Kubota BX2200
Several weeks ago, I got the BX2200 back from the dealer after having the Woods BH6000 put on. At the same time I got the new seat, replaced knuckles, and had the mechanical retrofit cruise control put on. The first time I cranked up, I noticed the fuel guage, temp guage, hour meter, and glow plugs weren't working. It did crank though. I found that a 15 amp fuse had blown. The label on the side is really faded, but it looks like it used to say BCC, but it might have been PCG, or PGC, or some such; I just can't tell for sure. Anyways, I replaced the fuse. Things worked for a couple of weeks, then Sunday, I noticed the guages down again. I put another fuse in today, and the glow plugs didn't even come on. The fuse blew instantly as soon as I turned the key one position.

I would think that there was an intermittent short, that is now completely shorted. I understand electrical circuits, but have no idea where all the things on this circuit start, end, go, or what else is even on this circuit. All 4 of those things share the instrument panel in common. Has anyone else had a similar experience? No fuses had ever blown in the almost 8 years and 300 operating hours that I've had the tractor. I do not know if the work I had done is related or not. Perhaps a wire was attached incorrectly, or perhaps the insulation stripped from a scuff and it's grounding, perhaps a wire is being pinched somewhere to the point that the insulation has been pierced.

I hope I don't have to tow the tractor back to the dealer. Anyone have any ideas where to look, what to do? Advice is appreciated.

On a separate note, in the mail was a little notice that my B-T thumb and ripper are waiting to be picked up! :D :D :D

1st impression = pinched wire, 2nd impression = chaffed wire that when it vibrates just the right amount where it shorts out.
Question is, which one? :D
I don't know how close the BX2200 wires out compared to a BX23 but I'd say they're very similar so we want to look for a pinched or chaffed wire that is "hot" with the switch on.
With this in mind, you've got the safety switch wireing and the elec fuel pump, fuel sender wireing.
The safety wireing will be concentrated around the seat, which just so happens to have been recently replaced, look real hard around the seat and also around the pto safety switch.

The fuel pump / fuel sender runs underneath the tractor down by the very same frame rail where the dealer no doubt bolted up the BH subframe. Check real hard around there too.

You may need to physically trace out the wire that the blown 15 amp fuse feeds but check the obvious 1st.

Have you informed the dealer about this roblem yet? Since it wasblownright off the bat when you picked it up I'd say the odd's are highly pointing to being caused by the work his shop done.
Good luck

The 88 y.o. owner died last year and his son, the one other salesman, took over. He let the two senior service managers (who worked there for decades) go, and replaced them with his own 19 or so y.o. son. All this work took over 4 weeks compared to the week he told me it would take.

Anyhow, when the starter worked, but none of the other electrical (I forgot headlights, flashers not working), I looked in the compartment behind the screen in front of the battery. There is a dangling harness of female ends with no male attachments to be found. Also there was a single disconnected female lead near the air filter (I think that's where it was). I called and asked him if the problem could be related to all these female connectors with no corresponding male connectors. He checked the manuals and said they were supposed to be that way (he had no idea why), and it was he who said to check fuses. Sure enough, that was it. So, to make a short story long, he has known since that initial conversation. Guess I need to call back.

I'll check the BX23 WSM electrical manual tonight. Theres a good possibility that the harness's are similar.
Find out the color of the wire that is fed off of the continually blowing fuse and we'll trace it out on the schematic.

I have attached a wiring diagram of the BX1800/2200 if it will help you out. They could have changed some wiring colors on the newer models.

D.T. and kb7981, I appreciate very much the replies from both of you. I will do more investigation of color after getting home.

I picked up the Bro-tek thumb and ripper from USPS on way to work. Can't wait to get home and open that heavy box.

Does the fuse blow after you fill it with fuel? The BX2200 has a reputation of bad fuel sending units and mine was one of them. There is an updated unit available. I also had a pinched taillight wire between the fender and the ROPS as seen in the photo. This took about 4 years before it actually shorted. You can see the fuel sending unit below the bracket on the left and the residue from when it leaked.

Turns out to be a bad voltage regulator. They haven't told me what replacement will cost. Has anyone else experienced this and what was your repair cost?

Brought her home today. $197 parts, labor, tax. No guess as to why the voltage regulator failed.

Di the dealer do any welding on either the tractor or bh frame while he had the tractor? Welding on any of it with the battery connected could have done this.
