BX2200 FEL control

I now have approx 15 hours seat time and have a question on the FEL control handle. The handle has a tendancy to stick when the FEL is being lowered - so much that I can let the handle go and it will stay stuck in the lowering position. It doesn't happen all the time and I've tried greasing/oiling which seems to reduce the tendancy to stick. I can feel it when it happens - like the ball swivel has caught on something. Anybody have any suggestions or similar instances that could help remedy this situation. I'd like to solve this myself before hauling it back to the dealer. It only sticks in the lowering position - no where else.

Hmmm...not sure but have you actually pushed the FEL into float mode at that point?? I think that's very normal. There should be a slight "click" you can feel in your hand when it passes from down to float.

Now I'm confused - maybe it is locking in the float mode - I guess since I was lowering the bucket wnen it happened and the bucket continued to lower, I assumed it was stuck in the down position. I'll check it this evening and see if it does go into the float mode when it happens or if the loader continues to apply downward force once the ground is reached. Just seems I recall the loader still exerting downward force - i.e., lifting the front wheels when this "sticking" occurred. Or maybe my idea of "float" is not correct.

I agree, I think you have pushed into the float mode which is normal ops. Some control valves also have a detent to the right position but it will not stay there but you will feel a notch, in flaot it will stay put till you pull it back out of float.

The front wheels may well appear to lift because suddenly they are relieved of 500 lbs. Go try it some more--I think you are OK.

I ran home for lunch, reread the manual and played with the loader - sure feel silly now with a red face - it was enaging the float function but at the time I first noticied it the loader was full so it came down fast when I pushed the control into that position. I've been told you're suppossed to learn something new each day - I guess I'm set for today. Thanks for the replys - better to be embarassed on the net rather than at the dealers lot.

We've all been there! One of my best ones was during the summer after I graduated from high school. I stopped by to talk to my automotive shop teacher about something. This is the guy that gave me an A+ in his class. I get ready to leave, and my car won't start. He notices me fussing under the hood and comes out to see what's going on. I said that I didn't know - the dang (had to say dang - he was my teacher!) car wouldn't start. Wait till you ride around with the brake on and decide the transmission is on the blink cuz it makes a funny whinning sound and the tractor does not feel "peppy". I never did that, of course /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif .
