I am started to feel like I’m beating a dead horse here but ……. if anybody has a clue if any of the 50cc units listed in the attached chart would be the same, please let me know.

I notice there are three columns that list : 1)relief valve bar psi 2) shock valve bars psi and 3) check valve in P-port.

After seeing these columns, I am curious what my unit has. Reason being, I have one issue of when I am running the tractor and raise the lift, I can sometimes feel a subtle kickback on the steering wheel when the lift reaches its full top height. It is not enough to alarm me at all but is noticeable. Is this normal or does my ps unit ( or another part in the hydro oil system ) have another defective piece inside beside the seal leak that gives an undue hydro oil pressure jolt that is causing the seal to leak?

Thanks
Larry

Hello lww05, and welcome to TBN! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry to hear about your problems, and unfortunately I cannot help you. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But I wanted to mention that you shouldn't have posted a second post that is basically a continuation of your first post. You should simply reply to your first post, and that will keep everything together and be less confusing to everyone else who will be trying to help you. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Why not try TractorSmart. They should be more helpful than anyone, and you don't need to leave home. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

They told me the part number of the entire unit along with msrp but said they had never opened up one of these units before.

Update,
I finally got a parts list and diagram. I've now ordered the seal kit.

Looks like the unit has a ball in the P-Port, I assume that means it has a check valve. On the topside, it also has a relief valve that looks to be adjustable. Mine has a plastic cap inserted in to a hex head allen screw. This valve contains the only coil spring in the unit. If I get the unit repaired and installed and I still feel the steering wheel jolt thing I mentioned previously, would adjusting this relief valve have any effect on this?

Should I attempt to do the pump repair myself? After talking with a few guys at the local pump shops, they kinda scared me by saying there is timing involved on this thing. I'd rate myself about 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 on mechanical ability. Is this a job for a 10 man?

Everyone starts at 1 and after experience they become a 10. Depending on your level of mechanical expertise and your ability to figure out how it was assembled if there are no shop manuals to guide you through the process, will determine if you should tackle a job such as this. I would tend to leave it to someone that has experience. since the pump costs a lot of money and if you screw it up, there is no turning back the clock. Get some estimates of cost. If the parts cost and the labor cost equal the price of a new unit, then go for it yourself. It is half the cost of a replacement, then I would give it to the experts. Everyone wants to save money and not pay the experts for there experience and education in doing the job. If you are comfortable with going it alone, then jump in there and start... when it is done, let us know what you learned and how well it works.... Junk..

I have the same thing occur on my BX when I have a heavy load on the 3 pt i.e. aerator when I am lifting it as I make my turn at the end of a run. I think I recall a thread on this a while back and the outcome was it was a normal thing on the BX. Anyone recall this???

The hydraulic pump on all of the subcompacts from all the manufacturers powers the FEL, 3pt hitch, and steering. The pump is small, and at around 5-5.5 gpm, there will be times when you will experience feedback, bounce, slower response, etc., when using 2 pump powered items at the same time, especially at lower RPMs.

After reading your post, it seems to me that you are experiencing a normal occurence when pushing the small hydraulic pump to it's limits. I've experienced the same thing in certain situations with my subcompact Case and my neighbor's BX22. You may be looking to replace a part that isn't the cause of what you think may be a problem? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Larger CUTs come with 2 pumps to combat this problem.
