BX22

I love this forum. I have been reading for the past few days and y'all helped me make a valuable choice. I had been dealing for years with Cub Cadet but I fell in love with the BX2200 when I saw it. I had almost bought the BX2200 when I saw on this forum that I couldn't put a BH on it. My local Kubota dealer lost a sell because he was taking too long to find a BX22. I drove to Abingdon, VA today and bought a BX22 with a 60'' belly mower. I also bought a tandem trailer to get it home, and to make some cash if needed. I bought an old farmhouse with 4.5 acres. The land is flat and holds water. I have alot of ditches I want to dig and this machine will make it fun instead of work. I am looking at $18,000 including the trailer and taxes. From what I have seen on this forum I got a good price. The dealer started at $14,990 on the BX22 and wouldn't budge, selling like hotcakes because of the 0% financing. I did get a set of blades from him. I pick it up tomorrow and may just take vacation the rest of the week. hehe /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Now that sounds like a good idea!!! Vacation for the rest of the week. If I could get some weather, I might consider the same thing, but it is snowing here in NY again /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Now that wouldn't be bad if we had gotten the 1 foot they were originally predicting, cuz then I could go use my new FEL to move it!! But we only got about 3 inches and it pretty much melted on my driveway so it didn't leave me anything to play in /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Oh well enjoy the new unit and drive safely getting her home. I too may have to buy a new trailer, as mine is a little too short with FEL and Grass Catcher on.

I've been looking for a trailer for mine...what kind did you get? Could you post a picture if you have time?

I will post a pic when I get it home and if I remember too. I may be too hyped up and silly to remember. Now that I live in the boonies my dial up connection is 28.8 so it may take awhile to upload LOL. But I wouldn't trade internet speed for the lovely country I live in now. F.Y.I to anyone buying. Kubota is taking so many applications it may take 3 to 5 hours for the dealer to get the application back. This is why I couldn't pick it up today /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The trailer is made by Gator Made Inc. Dual axle utility, 6 1/2' by 16'. The 60'' mmm just fits, but if I tie the chute up it fits better. Hehe, probably no one reading this but me but this is fun. The BX22 looked small around all the other tractors in the lot, but when I got it home and ran around the field it seemed huge to me. BTW when backing off trailer using a bank(cause I havent bought ramps yet) the backhoe may get in the way. LOL my first "OH ^%$*" and hadn't even got it off the trailer yet. Next purchase, RAMPS.

I have the 2200 without the hoe but used a bank as well when unloading. It caused some very tense moments because there was a foot or more of snow on the bank which caused some tipping action and I was (am) a total rookie. I somehow managed without rolling it but it's not something I'm looking forward to doing again! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

How did you tie it down to the trailer? When the dealer delivered mine he chained the rear through the bottom of the backhoe by the lower pivot (there's a steel loop there). He also chained the front to the BX push bar which scratched it up a lot. Wish there was a better way to do the front......

About tie downs. Here's what I did and it works for me, on my BX22.

Front, I marked the center point of the front grill at the bottom where the 4 bolts are that hold the grill on. Then drilled a pilot hole through both the grill and tractor frame. Then I took the grill off. I used a hole saw to drill a 1" hole through the grill and also through the tractor frame. This hole, when grill is mounted is used for bolting a 1" eye bolt through the grill and frame when grill is mounted. At times the grill has to come off for certain repairs, I used "never sieze" on the threads of the eye bolt. The eye bolt does not interfere with the mower mount. or front end loader. It also comes in handy for pulling out the BX if it ever gets stuck. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Now, there has been alot of good posts on here about 2 point tie downs instead of 1, which I agree with. So, while I had the grill off, I drilled, (7/8 hole saw) 2 holes at the bottom of the grill where the radius is, 1 on each side. This is where I put the shackles to hook the chains to to bind it down. Works great. By useing the holes in the grill for shackles, the angle of the chains clear the front end loader also.

Ofcourse after done I need to paint everything silver to match.

I cheated didn't do any drilling just went to TSC and picked up two eye bolts 2000lbs or 3000lbs at work right now can't remember /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif cut the bolts shorter to fit the space and now two tie downs
tie downs

at the back just added a shackle to the hitch plate sorry no pick of that /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
