I need s little BH work done and was at the rental place. They have a BX22 with BH and FEL that rents for 150/day. Never having runa BH before, my question is how difficult would the BX be to operate for a novice. Thanks for any input

Not that difficult. The FEL may take a few loads to get used to get the
basics down. The BH is a bit more complex (more axes to control).

The first BH I ever used was a Teramite a couple years ago. Took me
about an hour until the thing went the direction I wanted to go. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I would HIGHLY recommend PRACTICING in an unobstructed area until
you feel comfortable. Also, work slow and steady. So what if you don't
get everything done. Another $150 is a lot cheaper than fixing the dent
in your (insert whatever is the most expensive thing to fix here). Besides,
a little more seat time doesn't hurt.

Good Luck

Last week, as I was driving past a Kubota dealership, I noticed one of the little excavators sitting out front with a big sign on it to rent for $150 a day. That would be even better than the BX22 if backhoe work is all you were going to do with it.

We have a rental place that has let me rent just before closing time (four pm,) and return the next day before closing time for a one day rental rate. Sure beats renting in the morning and returning in the evening.
