Ordered a new BX22 from the Kubota dealer nearest me here in Northern Virginia over a month ago. Have seen concerns about this dealer in other threads. Haven't gotten the courtesy of a returned call once, every time we've spoken I've made the call. Can't get a firm delivery date. It keeps getting pushed out in 1 week increments. As of yesterday, the dealer is talking about delivery in early June. That would be 2 1/2 months after the order was placed. Is this kind of lead time rational? I know the customer service isn't good. The machine isn't out of the ordinary. BX22 TLB + 60" MMM + bar tires, 4 position valve, hydraulic front blade. I told them the blade isn't critical, but I need the tractor & mower so I can stop borrowing my neighbor's riding mower, and get to work on the landscape around my newly-built home. Am I expecting too much? Should I renew contact with other dealers, see if someone else can do better, and tell these guys to take a hike? It's maddening.

I live in South East WI and my local dealer has 6 of them sitting on his lot. Maybe you should look around some more.

Wayne,

I can't comment on the availability of the BX22, but having to initiate every status call is not what you look for in a salesperson. I had the same problem (I bought Green). I believe when you need to pull info from a salesperson, it generally is an indicator of how your entire experience (with this person) will go.

I'd make sure this is the dealer you want to strike up a long term relationship with before you go any furthur. It's not that a bad dealership can really hurt you as much as a good one can really really help you. This forum is littered (for lack of a better word) with comments on both types of experiences.

Good Luck

Bob

I ordered my BX22 a week ago and it is at the dealer waiting my return from Alaska. It sounds like poor organization on your dealers part. He may have financial problems and Kubota is holding back on him. It might be time to shop around for a better dealer. I think you picked a good tractor not a great dealer. Even the Kioti dealers say the BX22 is the machine to beat in it's class.

Local dealers here have them on the lot ready to go...not as many as they did earlier, but they have them in stock!

I ordered about 2 1/2 weeks ago from the Kubota dealer in Purcleville, Va. So far, communication has been good and I'm told my unit will be in next week. He told me that Kubota had promised them 3 others this week that were sold before me and they arrived as planned so hoping to have mine before next weekend.

I talked to 2 other dealers as well, one in Manassas and one in Gaithersburg, MD (I live in Leesburg) and as of a few days ago, none of them had a BX22 in stock that wasn't already sold. I thought about looking further out but prefer to buy from the local dealer if at all possible and while I haven't gotten a tractor yet, thought I received a reasonable deal and the time promised hasn't passed yet. If I don't have one next weekend, then I'll be a bit upset.

Good luck!

VaView,
Hmmm, sounds like you need another dealer. I had a similar experience. I shopped around for a BX22 & found the best deal a little over an hour from my place. I told the salesman what I wanted & if he could deliver, I'd buy. He said great & that he'd start looking. I called back a couple of times - - nothing. He NEVER called me. Finally, I called a local dealer & told him what I was looking for, the price I'd been offered, could he deliver? He said yes - - his price was $250 more than the 1st dealer.

I went in the next day, gave him my 10%, & exactly one week later he delivered the new baby, April 25. And he spend over 3 hours with me, explaining the operation of everything.
Glad I made the switch. Otherwise, I think I'd still be waiting.

If a dealer can't deliver in a month's time, either he isn't trying, or he has such a bad relationship with surrounding dealers that I'd question whether or not I wanted to give him my business.

Thanks for the useful feedback. My dealer is the one in Purcellville mentioned in one of the responses. One of the "three tractors in this week" was supposed to have been mine. They are claiming that they all came in with 3 position valves, and mine needs the 4-position. I'm having a hard time believing what I'm being told. I asked the salesman to have a conversation with the owner (the owner was supposed to have been talking with Kubota yesterday) and then to call me. No call. The salesman is claiming that Kubota badly underestimated demand for this machine this year, and that they are in short supply with long lead times everywhere. From the replies to my original post, I'm having a hard time believing that too. I did contact another dealer in Fredrick MD, who is working to find a machine equipped as I need it, and to beat a June delivery date. Again, thanks for the useful feedback. I'll update the thread as the soap opera plays itself out. Sheesh.

I bought my bx2200 from Frederick Equipment. They are one of the friendliest places around, and I have been impressed by their attitude and responsiveness. Right now they all need a vacation, as they were overrun this spring, but they're still plugging along.
Aparently there is some emnity between the Pucellville dealer and Frederick. When Frederick had their spring sale, the Pucellville dealer parked a couple of tractors down the road with a banner on them, directing people to the Pucellville dealership.
It didn't go down well with the folks at Frederick Equipment (or for Kubota, I imagine).
Rest assured, they will do their best to find you a bx.

Funny how the stories go. The folks in Purcellville tell a different story about the problems between the two dealerships. They said it goes back to a time when the Frederick dealer was marketing to the Virginia market by selling without collecting sales tax, the dealer in Virginia filed a claim and won it according to my salesman. Will watch for the tv movie later.

Either way, I'm must looking to get a tractor and the folks in Frederick didn't have any either and when I talked to them, they said it could be a "few weeks", I would just need to order one and get in line. They were very friendly but since they didn't have any units in stock or a better story, decided to just leave the original order in place since it is in the system.

Too bad on the original posters issue with the valve, I'll have to do some reading to understand the need for 3 way versus a 4 way, I've bought the standard tractor without additional implements so don't think that will be an issue for me but will find out.

Seriously just sounds like we've run in to an issue with availability from the manufacturer and the dealer issues are just a side part of the circus.
