BX1880 - not enough power to run mower

As mentioned early on, check you fuel filters. My bx had issues at the end of my first tank of diesel. Water in both filters right from the dealer. They made the service call in record time and no issues since.

Highest gear full pedal hydrostatic is unrealistic. It's for transport on smooth flat surfaces.

I have been mowing with a BX1860 for years, never have had the problem you describe. I mow at full RPM, approx. 3000, usually in low range, occasionally high range but never at full speed. The mower just doesn’t cut well at high ground speed. Never have had any drop in RPM.

WHY would you think you could cut grass In high range at wide open throttle? you wouldn't even get a good cut, just shredded ends!. 5MPH is more like it..

Might want to check the intake also, I know it only has 5hrs, but a pest could have started making a nest in the intake. Especially if it was sitting unused for a length of time.
And give low range a try also.

I've owned 30 Kubotas and what your saying is normal without some specific questions. But I'll give you $1000 for it and I'll put it in low range and do near full throttle rpms till it gets to the 50 hours and then full throttle in low range and guarantee it'll cut and I'll be happy. High range (Rabbit) is for low grass and flying across the yard and low (Turtle) is for higher grass and cutting it. I know some people love to brag that they always mow in Rabbit and mor epower to them. I always mow in Turtle and am happy and satisfied. I usually use low to mid range on 3 speed Kubotas.
I also usually always pulled out in 1st gear in straight transmission cars/trucks and never complained when they wouldn't pull out so good in 2nd or 3rd gear. Have driven some big transport trucks years ago that had such low 1st gears that I did pull out in 2nd in them and was still happy.
Try turtle and near full throttle and report back.

I had a BX 1860 with 54" MMM and now a BX 2370 with the same mower. They both mowed exactly the same. I always mow in high range except for a very few exceptions. I never mow at top speed. I also use a front mount snowblower and pto wood chipper. The only time I could tell the difference between the two tractors was when using the chipper.

I just bought a used BX1880 with 5 hours on it. I should have, but did not test it using the mower to cut grass before bringing it home. I assumed they limit it to a 54 mower for a reason. I didn稚 expect huge power output. However, I did think I could mow 1/2 off my grass (grass at 4 and deck set to 3-1/2? without it bogging down. In high range at wide open throttle, if you advance the hydrostatic pedal even half way on flat ground the rpms drop easily 3-400 rpm. If I try full speed at wide open throttle, flat ground, cutting only 1/2 off the top, the engine bogs down and drops from 3450 rpm to 2500 rpm.

I didn稚 expect it to mow like my ZD331 but this is pretty disappointing. Am I expecting too much? If it痴 normal I guess I have to live with it. If not, I壇 appreciate suggestions on things to check. Moisture in the fuel seems possible, but I have no way of knowing if this is normal. Thanks in advance.

If you use a monkey wrench to drive nails it's hard to blame the tool.

Also, make sure the parking brake is fully released.

Why would I would think of it? Because if the gearbox on the mower deck is geared properly, the blade tip speed is fast enough to cut properly at 7 mph. If your logic was correct, my ZD331 would not cut so perfectly at 10 mph. The JD X575 I had gave a fabulous cut at 7 mph, so I was hoping a Kubota BX would do this also.
