The
BX1860 will be all you need and more in my opinion. I had a
BX2230 with loader and 60" MMM for 5 years and it served me well. Very rarely I wished I had more power, but you just need to consider what size of tractor your dealing with and understand the limits. As my needs changed, the 2230 and 60" mower was no longer practical. i needed a 48" deck to manuever in my new property so I traded for a
BX1860 with loader and 48" fine cut deck. The 1860 is not available with a 60" deck. The tires are not interchangeable from the
BX1860 to the larger BX's and vice versa. My dealer said he checked with Kubota Engineers and the gear ratios are different. If you run the wrong tire combo and damaged the drivetrain, they would not warranty it. Just what I was told, so I'm passing it along. In my opinion teh ratios are probably so close, it would not matter unless you were running in 4X4 on pavement.
So far I've run the
BX1860 for about 12 hrs moving snow and other various taks....haven't missed the extra hp of the 2230 or the larger tires yet. I don't think you would really need the extra hp unless you plan to dig a foundation or a hole for a pool or something....if that is the plan, hire it done, or rent a larger machine.
Get the loader! Without it, I would be lost...I use it all the time for countless uses....I think without it, you could get by with a garden tractor....
I have both sets of tires, bars and turfs.....they both have benefits and its nice to be able to switch back and forth. If I could only have one set, it would be the bar tires hands down. you will just need to be careful in the wet spring season.
