Has any body ran a rotary cutter on a bx1850 if so what make and model rotary cutter.
48" Befco RM - works great on my 2350. Keep in mind you will need the FEL or front ballast to keep it on the ground. I have suitcase weights I utilize when the FEL is not mounted up.
I don't know what might be different in your case, but for most people, counterweight is not necessary. I run a 40" heavy duty Gearmore (just under 400 lb.) on a BX2200 and don't come close to needing counterweight, even on fairly steep slopes.

I can assure you counterweight is necessary on the Befco/BX2350 setup when the mower is in transport mode (off the ground - in the air w/3pt)
I was thinking about a 48'' BH for my BX1500 so I could back out over ditiches and road banks to keep them trimed off.I can't remember off the top of my head how much my 48" xb weighs but I moved it the other day for the first time without the loader on and the front end was way to light with it raised. Also I would recommend going with at least the 40" cut. you won't have any problems, that is the size that Kubota recommends.
