Arrived this morning!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent service from Feldmanns sales and service in Howards Grove I might add also. They are a family owned buisness and the attention to the customer really shows and they have my recommendation any day.

But I did discover one problem already which i will attach pics of.

The belt for the mower deck is rubbing on the tension pulley arm. The bottom of the belt after 20 minutes of use is already wore leaving a large amount of rubber on the top of the deck and a slight groove/wearing of paint on the arm where the belt is rubbing on it. It looks as if the arm is slightly bent up where the spring attaches to it. I called the dealer and they are ordering a new arm and belt but i am wondering if anyone else had this problem with the 54" mmm deck at any point???????? The belt is also riding on the bottom of the pulley.

Anyway im glad to be here and hope to help out in the future.

Here is a link to the pics.

I have the 60" MMM on my BX and I have not experience any wearing of the belt. My BX is about 4 months old.

Hopefully your dealer will get this fixed with the new parts they ordered.

I would be concerned. Possibly to the point of telling them I wanted a new mower deck. Brand new machine, and all that.

Was the mower somehow damaged in shipment? Was it put together by a welder that was hired away from King Kutter?

No reason why for the price the mower deck should not be perfect upon delivery.

Strike while the iron is hot, so they say. If you accept it as is, you will live with it a long time. Maybe there is a simple explanation, but be careful...

Tell them to bring you a new mower. Why should you accept a repaired unit at the price of new?

Sounds harsh, but think about it. If you bought a TV or something and brought it home and it failed in 20 minutes, would you keep it or take it back to the store and get another, new one?

Myself, I am a pretty reasonable guy for the most part, but I doubt I would be happy with a repair if I were in the same situation. When I buy new, I expect what I buy to work perfectly for a while...not have problems during the first half hour.

Also, ask them how many pumps of grease they put into the mower spindles before delivery. If they say "none, they are greased in the factory"...from what has been reported here on the 60 inch deck for the BX18/2200 you may have run the spindles almost dry...another reason to push for a new replacement.

Sorry if this sounds like gloom and doom...just trying to share concerns I would have if I were in your shoes.

I am in full agreement with Henro (Bill) on asking for a replacement. I was going to post that, but I got involved watching a e Bay auction and didn't get to it... He saved me a lot of typing... thanks Bill..
PS... I didn't win the auction.. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

As usual Henro is right on. I have just over 50 hours on my 23 and the deck sounded kind of noisy at first. Well I took it off and greased it up real good, funny the noise was considerably less after that. My guess is that they did not grease it up enough. I also agree, I would get a new mower deck, not have this one fixed. He made enough on the deal to deal with a picky customer (you), and not get his feelings hurt.

The arm looks like a easy swap but im not 100% sold on it being the sole problem. Its possible the gear box pulley sitting right next to it is to low causing the pulley to ride low and rub the arm on the belt tensioner pulley.

I plan to let him swap the arm and then look at it. If it lines up good then fine. If not I am not going to mess with trying to move the gearbox, im going to ask for a new deck.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I also discovered that the arm on the right side of the tractor that raises the deck hits the bottom of the floorboard. I was told to just adjust it so the deck sits lower.
In looking at the front links on the mower attachment i see that the threads are backed way out and also on the side to side adjustment threads underneath by the arms they are backed out quite a bit. Im no mechanic but couldnt they be tightened to raise the deck some so the arms dont hit the bottom???????

that i have posted you can see the front nuts i am talking about by the bottom of the front grill..........its for the front hanger for the deck.

I wouldn't do any adjustments on the deck at all.... Let the dealer do what is necessary. To me, it looks like the set up person never did the set up on the deck and that possibly the entire deck has been "racked" or damaged in some way. It could have been dropped in shipping and show no outward appearance of damage, but the unit itself could be out of alignment.. I have looked at the pictures and believe that the belt is riding too low in the pulley. Pictures can be deceiving, so take that for what it is worth. Either way, let the dealer do what is necessary to repair this. For the next year, the deck is his problem.... 1 year warranty on the deck...

Not to be hard, but make the dealer do this setup stuff, since it was apparently not done correctly at the dealers. Do not touch it, make them. These things should have been found out and fixed or replaced BEFORE delivery (maybe why yours was LATE), but even if you are able to do them, you should not and you should not have too. My dealer run checks all his sales BEFORE they go out, he has the yard to prove it, and they would not go out like this.

If he balks, a quick call to Kubota home office should do the trick, but my guess is, that would not be needed.

Let us know

I would want a new deck out of the deal.

Obviously they have not setup the deck as I can plainly see the caster wheels are not the same on the front and rear of the deck.

Mine was delivered not setup either and I called the Dealer immediately as I specifically told them to set it up for 3" mowing.
They sent a truck to get it and delivered it when they had it properly adjusted!

Good Luck, Tom
