My BX2230 is way too light on the back end. I filled the tires, but need more for FEL work. I've see gobs of 12" wheel weights on ebay and craigslist, but they all have 4 bolt holes. My rims have 5 bolts. Is my only option to buy new weights from the dealer (or wait for some nearby). I assume none of these 4 hole weights will work. I may have to do a 3ph weight also, but on my side hills I want it low and wide.

Don't confuse the 5 bolts with the 4 square holes ;)

The wheel weights I had with my BX had nothing to do with the 5 lugs.

They used the 4 holes in the wheel of the BX. An 8" long threaded rod went through the the wheel weight and through those 4 holes. The bolts used washers and nuts on both ends. Each weight was approximately 50 lbs, so they added 100 pounds, but absolutely at the right place. They worked very, very well.

Pretty much like BP's.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I never noticed the outside of the rim had those holes in them. I'll start hunting right away. :)

BP, that's a mighty clean tractor. Have you even started the engine on it yet? :)

A couple other thoughts. First you said to use an 8" bolt to mount them. I see 2 bolts on a couple of those pictures. Is that enough for a 75lb weight? Or should I use 4 on that much? Do all the brands pretty much use a standard spread for the bolt pattern so they'll all fit each other?

You guys are terrific. And FAST! :)

Thanks, but that tractor got sold a year ago. That photo was one of it's "glam shots' for the advertising and for my fond memories of the tractor. It was sweet.

Honestly don't know as mine came dealer installed. Had I done it myself I probably would have used all four just because there are four holes, but no problems to date.

The full weight is not being supported by the bolts.

The square holes are actually intended for carriage bolts. No nuts and washers needed on the inside.

True enough, but mine came from the dealer with just long threaded rods and nuts/washers. Not ideal, but they held.
