I would also suggest on tractors sitting for a long time to sit it on blocks with most of the load off the tires, or at least inflated to max. Those economical trickle chargers can keep the battery from a premature death from discharge, or better yet (especially in the real cold) pull the battery and bring it inside.

All my stuff stays inside, a closed garage even unheated has a good chance of staying above freezing from ground heat.

No room? Push the wife's Buick outside, it won't be worth anything in 15 years anyway, and besides after the Arabs go after our food, the Buick won't help you grow your own /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

<font color=blue>had to crank it three times to get it to start. When it did a fair amount of smoke can out of the exhaust for a few moments.</font color=blue>
Every cold start I use the Glow Plugs for 5 seconds as recommended.
However, lately with over night lows of 25, I too was experiencing hard noisey lots of black smoke and initial rough running for several moments.
Then I uped the Glow plug time to 20 seconds and the starts are now like the middle of summer again.
I wonder if my GP can install a glow plug you know wear to get ME going quicker, smoother and with less fuss in the morning.
