BX Series wont shut off

My stepfather has a BX series tractor and after cutting grass last night it wouldnt shut off with the key. He said it finally shut off after about a half hour. I am going to go look at it tonight but was wondering if you guys could give me a little insight on this problem. He told there was still some fuel in the tank when it shut off so I dont think he ran out of fuel. Could the ignition swith be bad or is there a solenoid for the fuel shut off to check into. Thanks for any help

There was a thread about this subject a while back on TBN. The problem was traced to a blown fuse/melted wire against the muffler.

Mine was as simple as the ground connector simply came loose from the battery post.

There is a solenoid that kills the fuel at the injector pump. There has been reports of various issues with the wire that runs to it, either fuse or melted insulation grounding it out. I think I've read one user even had a bad solenoid, but it's pretty rare.
