Make sure all your seat bolts are still there. My brother's BX1850 was missing a couple of them, and the switches were misaligned.

well that was the first thing i checked because i have seen that happen before and that wasnt the case with mine so my next thought is the ignition switch it might be defected or something

Maybe check the fuel shutoff solenoid and the voltage line that feeds it. I don't know for sure, but would bet that it requires voltage to keep the fuel flowing. A damaged wire or corroded connector could be dropping the voltage to the point where the solenoid isn't staying open. Just a guess.

It is supposed to do that if you are mowing and you stand up. The original post wasn't completely clear. I presume you mean it cuts out like that while you are staying seated?

I had the same problem for a while...where you're putting along, mowing grass or whatever, and it just 'dies' for a moment then before it completely stalls picks back up to a normal hum? Just to happen again a few minutes later? Rinse, Repeat? Your butt is still in the seat and all things seem normal except for this odd thing happening to the engine? Only one time has my ever "stalled" completely. It immediately restarted and I went on my way.

I suspect water in the fuel. I started using diesel additive and it has pretty well fixed the problem.

I try not to let my fuel sit around in the can too long before putting it in the tractor...the longer it sits, the worse my problem is. Don't ask me. I originally thought you could put nearly ANYTHING in a tractor engine and it would run...I guess that's not the case. Mine seems very, very sensitive to fuel quality.

Mine did the same thing and the fix was the same Heet for deisel engines and a deisel conditioner.

The BX1800/2200 doesn't have the safety switches in the seat, I would suspect fuel deliverely as well. If it's been awhile since you changed your fuel filters (there are 2 of them), change them and I'll bet your problem goes away.

Some safety switches have to be adjusted periodically. They slip or wear down, and the plunger on the switch doesn't fully depress. A workshop manual will detail the proceedure. Someone wrote that your model doesn't have a seat switch, is that true? The Bx2230 has a seat switch, and it requires occasional adjustment. Maybe the PTO ENGAGE or PTO RUN safety switches need adjustmant.

Best of Luck!

Chris28... what model do you have. You mention a BX2200. Could you have one of the later models?

When you mention you have replaced two safety switches are they on the seat? The only safety switches the BX2200 has are two interlocks, one for the neutral start position and the other is a PTO engaged. Both switches are located under the fenders.

There have been a couple of threads here about BX's with water in the fuel system that sound exactly like your symptoms. We don't have a separator so the fuel filters won't tolerate much water.

It's true. I can get off mine with any pto powered attachment running.

AFAIK, the safety seat switched showed up on the 30 series in '04

I think you'll find it is there but not working correctly. My 1800 didn't appear to have one, then after the 50 hour service, the shop apparently "fixed" it as it was effective for quite a while. About a year ago, it stopped working (i.e. stopped cutting off) again. Although less safe, that's actually my preference. No one else uses the tractor.

I can assure you that I don't have one. If you look at the exploded parts book for a BX1800/2200, there is not one listed. If you look at the parts listing for a 30 series, it's there. I've got an early BX, bought first year they were available and I suppose Kubota could have added them to the later year BX18/2200's without updating the parts book.

We still need to confirm with the OP on what safety switches he changed.

Chris,

When u turn the key BUT before starting, do u hear the fuel pump running??? I had a problem where a stick hit a rubber bushing on the shaft for the transmission fan, it then worked loose and hit the wire for the fuel pump. I found this out AFTER I replaced the fuel filters and still had the same problem, no power.

And yes my 2002 BX 2200 has no safety switch on the seat.
