not sure what to buy... i have 3 acres that i mow and also want to ba able to do food plots and odd jobs...
I have been qouted 8800 for a bx2230 with 60" mmm and bar tires. Then 2400 for fel. Total 11200
Another dealer quoted me 11000 for b7510 r4 tires and 60"mmm. And 3000 for fel. Total 14000
From what i have seen the 2230 is a heck of a price but the sub worries me about taking it in the woods. But then is the extra 2800 worth it.

I have a BX. Don't think it would do well in woods as ground clearance is low. If you went BX, you'd need to drop the MMM and install a skid plate. Without the skid plate (or MMM, but it would hang you up more in woods), you'd be repairing stuff on the belly a lot.

I love my BX and it does great for what I need, but I'm a city boy.............

Go with the B and get a RFM instead of the MMM. The B will be more versatile because your going to start using the tractor for things you haven't even thought of yet. The RFM will make it easier to convert/change to different implements cause your gonna buy more implements when you find out what the tractors potential is!

I would say go for the B7510. The capacity to do more with the machine, will be very nice. Also, you said you got the qoute's from two different dealers, cross check the prices, and see which one is willing to beat the other by a few dollars.

Price wise, you are in the ball park, maybe, a rebate, or zero percent loan will sweeten the deal.

7610 r4,302 fel, and a 72" rmm for 200 more making it 14200.

Got to talking to him more and got this...
2630 r4,72" mmm, 403 fel for 16100.

The 2630 is a DEAL from what I have seen... What do ya'll think?

I started out with a BX2200 and ended up with a B7610. Here is a comparison I did between the two.

You really can't go wrong either way.

I had a BX2200 and I could not wait to get rid of it.
It has too low of ground clearance for working in the woods or soft soil. I can't remember how many times I got it stuck. Not only getting it stuck I also tore the hydro cooling fan 3 times and tore the grease boots on the driveshaft going to the hydro 2 times. The ride was very hard on rough ground.
If you have sandy soil a recomend to stay away from the BX series because the whole 3 point assembly had to be replaced after 268 HRS. 3 point pivot assembly that is bolted to the transaxle wore out and had to be replaced. It was under warantee and my Kubota dealer took care of it but I saw the cost of all the parts that had to be replaced and I could not believe it. Over ($1,200.00). I learned a good lesson here. Check to see what it takes to replace worn out parts on the 3 point hitch assembly.

About 1-1/2 years ago I sold the BX2200 and purchased a B7500 new with Ag tires. (Same tractor as the B7510 but without key shut off, safty shut offs, plastic front light lenses and 1/4 inching. (Oh by the way it looks like 1/4 inching can be installed on a B7500. I'm looking into it. It looks like it is a bolt on.)
Well NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I LOVE IT!!! I never got it stuck yet. The ride is much smoother on rough ground. When the pivot pin wears out on the 3 point assembly you just replace it with a new pin and bolt it in place. Price is under $40.00.
Also I have not damaged parts working in the woods. I feel a B7510 will fit your need better. This is my recomendation, If you need to do any type of work in the woods, soft or sandy soil, or mowing on rough ground spend the extra money and get a B series tractor.

I have no regrets with my B7610 (@ 150 hrs now) - and mowing was the first chore it had to do...but it does SO much more as well!

If you do get a B7610 - make sure to specify the LA352 FEL - it offers a better lift capacity: I needed it for dealing with the rocks that invariably pop up out the ground here in New England.

As far as choice between B7510 / B7610 and the new B2630 - the B7510/7610's have a smaller frame than the B2630 - narrower, shorter and lighter. So the primary mowing questions to ask yourself:

1) Does your lawn have many obstacles? (ie manueverability)
2) How firm is your topsoil / sod? (ie. soil compaction)

If you have lots of obstacles - or worry about soil compaction - these would favor the smaller B7510 / B7610. If you don't have these concerns, and don't mind the higher price - the quote for the B2630 seems pretty nice: I paid about the same for my B7610 last year! The B2630 has bigger capabilities across the board.

As far as mower size - I have trees / rocks to mow around - and a gate to pass through - so I have a 54" MMM - can mow @ 2 acres in @ 1 hour. If you don't have obstacles - you could get a rear finish mower for much less than the MMM and maybe pick up another implement (ex boxblade / tiller) from the start.

Killer_B's comparison will give you a nice overview between the BX2230 and the B7610 - but I'd have to say to go with the B-series if you are serious about doing work in the woods.
