Snow BX= good in snow

If you like playing in the snow with the FEL, you would love the blower (I have a front end blower that came with my used BX24. My first time with 48 inches of snow and I can't wait for the next "bad" storm.

I know what you mean! I got a blower for my little 345 JD. That thing does some serious work in a very little amount of time. Hopefully someday I can graduate to the Kubota blower

As long as you keep the back tires on the same plane they seem not to get stuck. I went parallel to the driveway a few times and got stuck. Leaning over of the ground seems to be a problem.

I love where I live.. most of the time. We're said to have two seasons - Summer and Mud. I feel like we're the only part of the country that has no snow right now. It always manages to go north or south of us or to warm up just enough that we only get rain or ice.

I hear you Dave. We usually just get rain/ice/crud/mix too. We were right at the edge of that pre-Christmas snow that dumped 20" in VA. We got 8". That was the biggest snow we've had since I bought my tractor in the summer of '08. Last winter, we got a total of about 10" for the year, with the biggest being around 4".

I too bought chains this year (ordered, don't have 'em yet); as the R4's on my B7610 don't do nearly as well on the slippery stuff as the turfs on my B7100 did.

Your not trying hard enough, I've had my BX2350 stuck a few times.

I was out until 11 o'clock last night playing, I mean working on snow removal. I don't think the neihbors were happy. Especially since there was maybe 2" of snow on the ground. Yep, the wife had to come get me and tell me to put the toy away.

Last year we had a big ice storm followed by a little snow. I dragged the blade down the driveway and turned around to come back up. I wondered what my chances of pulling the blade uphill would be. Then I wondered what my chances of getting back up at all would be. With the diff. locked I just barely spun my way back up.

Blading the level stretches was still a challenge. The icy, wet snow just kept pulling my back end off the side of the driveway. I made the whole run cutting a hard right just to track a straight line.

That's why this year I bought a set of chains. We may never again get more than a dusting but if we do, I wouldn't be able to stand it if I had to leave the BX in the garage.

BTW - the snow in that photo? that's called a "Level 1 Snow Emergency" where I live. Level 3 (~3-5 inches) and it's illegal to drive on public roads. It's pathetic.

Because we usually get about one "snow event" per year. When we do get snow, it's wet and icy. My driveway is a bit steep. When our "event" came last year, the R4s let me down.

Now, the fact is, in most cases I'd probably do just as well to leave the BX in the garage. My wife and I both have 4wd vehicles and a couple of inches of snow is better than the sheet of ice that's usually lying underneath. But I don't think we're here to talk about prudence. I'd rather drop a few bills on a set of chains than miss out on some play time because my tractor couldn't handle the conditions.

Besides, they'll be of some use in the mud too, right?

Of course! In your area, chains serve you best in this area. cost justified, no problem!
