I would like to change the fuel filter closest to the fuel tank on my BX23 (175 Hours and has never been changed) as a preventative measure. Does that require me to bleed any air from the line?

If so, how would I do that?

Thank you,
~Tol

Kubota says to turn the key one click for 30 sec after changing fuel filter. Check your owners manual, tells how to do this.

I changed both filters on my BX25: it was a piece of cake. The system will prime everything for you with a turn of the key. To prevent loss of diesel fuel during the filter change, I tried to block the vents on the fuel cap. I did this by removing the fuel cap and reintalling it, with a sheet of plastic over the opening. Plumbing 101: air moves liquid. I only lost about one pint of fuel doing this.
Good luck.

On my BX 25 I change that filter every oil change, good insurance. Had it plugged solid at 300 hrs. with black gunk. First time I changed the engine side filter I said to H** with this and I moved it down under by the booster pump. Even was able to use the existing hoses. The Kubota hose clamps suck. The ones that come with the replacement filter are heavier and easier to open and close. I also pinched off the hose w/needle nose vise-grips. I have 800 hrs on it now after 2+ years, so have changed every thing several times. Quickly learned the value of a 5 GL can pump for HY fluid. You can change the oil filter w/o removing the cowling if you get one of those filter wrenches that work with a ratchet wrench and long extension. Fits over the end of the filter with 3 fingers.

I got one of those, it also fits my ATV and lawn tractor oil filters.
