Grading BX Front blade question

I just got a blade for my BX but haven't used it yet. As BP notes, a few weeks or so to go before I know. One of the reason I got it was that I was not happy with the FEL + back blade that I tried last year and the fact I plowed for years with my Wheel Horse that was 2WD and used wheel weights and chains. I found the FEL approach slow, and the back blade needed to be manually angled and then the side link adjusted to get it level. This winter, I'm thinking of using the back blade and front blade, with the back blade on for ballast and to pull snow away from the garage, etc. I say, go for it.

Thanks for the help guys.I thought that the BX should do as good or better than my Honda foreman,I just wanted to hear it from people that have used them.
This weekend I am going to more dealers to find my BX.

i have a subcompact b_2360 w/ the hd 2763blade with the squeege edge.
with the appropriate weight in rear and on wheels, you shouldn't have a problem.
am in eastern pa, a similar winter pattern to you. i'm convinced of my kubota's ability to work . . . with that said,i'm going to put my 8hp honda track snowblower on craigslist to make room and seed money for land pride implements.

Well, we got 12-14 inches yesterday. I plowed my drive, two neighbor's drives, and a 1/4 mile country lane. These are long, 125' country drives too. Heavy wet snow as well. I now have better than 6 hours of plowing, in pretty tough conditions with which to evaluate the set up.

So what do I think now about a BX with 5' front hydraulic snow blade? Absolutely incredible. When pushing, backing and pushing again in small areas, the HST is the only way to go. 4wd is great. No chains and no need so far.

I did find myself, however, wishing for a 3 speed trans, instead of just the two. It might be nice to have a range inbetween the Hi and Lo of the BX. But that is just being picky.

Thanks for all the advice.It looks like the BX handles snow just fine.Hopefully I will have my own BX soon.

I had debated on getting a front blade for my bx 2200, I was worried that using the back blade would get old, or not be effective. I am so glad that I did not buy the front blade. I have a gravel drive, and it is nice to be able to see exactly how high I am keeping the blade above the ground. I also found the option to reverse the blade really nice for pushing the crumbs off with out gouging into gravel. Having the FEL on was also nice to be able to scoop the mound at the end from the town plows, lift it, and dump far out of the way. This will especially be nice when the next storm comes and the old stuff hasn't melted. As for turning around to see what you are doing with the back blade......I spend alot more time turned around using box blade, tiller,york rake...etc. I would have to say that for me the only annoying thing is having to get off and rotate the blade, but for the $1500-$2000 savings I can get over that. Every one has what works for them, and what they are willing to put up with. Just figured I would throw what I foundin the mix.

so you know I do not have a lot of time plowing with a kubota, but I do have many years experience removing snow with trucks, atv's, skidsteers.

I am thinking about buying a BX 2350 or 2360.I also want to get the 60" front blade to plow my driveway.In the past I have used a 4wd atv that worked well for me.
Will the BX push the snow as good as the atv?

This isn't about the blade but about the between the BX2350 and BX2360. The BX2350 I had and only kept a few months had a very abrupt stop in reverse. It wasn't just me but I'm only speaking for myself. Run a search to see other 50 series owners input. It was bad enough for me to trade it because of the "problem" so unless your getting a major discount between the 50 series and 60 series choose the 60.

BX, front hydraulic blade, Quick Attach, living at the 45th Parallel, 130" of snow a year.

Couldn't pry that front blade out of my cold, dead hands. Frankly, justifies the purchase for snow plowing alone. What I do in the "off season", what the rest of you all call summer, is merely a bonus!

Well, I officially christened the new-to-me 54" front blade on my BX on Wednesday. Woke up to about 3" of slushy snow. By morning, the snow had turned to rain. Given the temps were going to drop once the storm finished, I went out to clear the slush once the rain let up before it re-froze. Not really a fair test for the BX I'd say. I started out in low range and 4WD (no chains or wheel weights) and quickly moved to high range and 2WD. The BX cleared the heavy slush like it wasn't even there. No slipping or sliding. I"m sure I'll need at least 4WD when we get a real storm, but for now, I'm delighted with my new 4-way hydraulic front blade.

Oh, I did add two suitcase weights to the 3PH for some ballast. Why only 2? That's all I have so far. Worked great. Not having a large rear attachment really aided with manuverability. Might just sell my 5' rear blade come Spring.

Ive debated on getting the 54" blade. There is a significant savings going with that over the hydraulic 60". Do you find it a pain to adjust? To me, I probably wouldnt need to adjust it much, just keep it angled most of the time. Can you post some pics up with the 54 on your 1860?
