After reading many of the posts ,here, I am further educated but still not sure if a BX2200 will meet my needs. I need a tractor to maintain and snow plow a 1000' gravel driveway, mow about 4 acres, bushhog 3 acs.,do some light grading and landscaping work, and install a couple hundred fence posts. Does a post hole digger work well on the BX's? Am I asking too much to think a BX can handle this much duty or should I just "grin and bear it" and pony up for a larger tractor( seems like it is getting expensive already)?

Neo, another point to make is you will find more jobs than you thought of when you get your new tractor!

Geeze,
I love my BX and I realize it is probably capable of much more that I would ever use it for but geeze...
I guess factually, yes, I suppose the BX would do every bit of that and come back for more! Why not.
Would I buy more tractor if I had that much to do? Yes, I bought the BX for 1 acre. But that said,
the BX would do it, I really think so.

A couple hundred fence posts? It would depend on the size of the hole, I think. The BX will handle a 9" auger, and maybe a 12" if the soil is soft. But if you want larger, or the ground is tough, a larger tractor will be necessary. The main issue would be ground clearance...most post hole diggers are meant for a larger frame. You might consider renting a larger tractor for that task, as the BX will handle everything else with ease... If not, go with a 2410...it'll handle it all.

A couple of threads on this board on the subject here and here and also one comment here. You might want to contact some of the original posters - your dealer should also be able to help you out.

The market is definitely responding to the BX - they are selling very well - King Kutter is one company that is apparently marketing a line of products just for the BX.

I bought my BX with plans to use an auger - don't have it yet - and expect to put in a couple hundred fence posts myself. Everything I have seen so far of the mechanical capabilities of the tractor leads me to believe that it will not be an issue.

However, there are also some issues to be aware of with putting in fence post holes that I learned just using the one/two-man augers ... namely it doesn't matter how tough your auger is, unless you have one of the hydraulic set-ups on a skid-steer you won't be doing much digging in clay in the summer unless you soak the area first!!

Hope this helps ...
