BX B7500 Safety

"The New Holland tractors require that you set the parking brake before dismounting, but will let you run the PTO"

Wouldn't work. That "safety" would have to be disabled in real life use. Picture this: You are landscaping around the foundation of your house (or polebarn, or whatever) and need to pick up some dirt that is piled against it with the FEL. So you don't damage your foundation or the metal skin of your barn, you need to creep forward while operating the FEL. You can't see ANY of this without leaning forward. But on the NH, you can't do this without setting the parking brake? As soon as you do that, you can't creep.....

I think you should get the John Deere. I hate to tell you this but basically there is no "well engineered" safety system on a tractor. This will get folks mad but all modern compacts are much safer than say a Ford 8N. It has no ROP or belt or a solid floorboard (my opinion) and the wheels have incomplete fenders which all make nasty things possible like last year when two little girls where riding in the seat, one in the others lap, she slipped and fell off under the wheel. Fortunately nothing more than a broken leg and bruises--could have been really bad!!!
What you are asking for, most people would immediantly remove. My wife seems able to operate the BX just fine--it like my 2410--- is a small tractor, not a lawn mower. No thanks on the seat switches and operator presence swithces--nope--do not want them. Advanced operation of the tractor to get it's full versatility will require the disabling of such things as safety interlocks and engine kill switches.

On my Ariens GT20 I used to occasionally have to stand up while roto-tilling to see if there was a rock or something I was going to run over. Everytime I stood up, with the tiller/pto engaged, the tractor would shut-down. The problem here is that before the engine was completely stopped, I would sit back down, everthing would re-commence and away we'd go. Occasionally, the engine would back-fire, scare the living s__t out of me, and cause unneccesary wear and tear on the motor. This was gas, so I'm not sure if back-firing is a problem with diesel engines. (I don't have the CFO's permission for the sub-compact just yet....)

I agree with previous posts, these little switches can cause you to be complacent. Even on my "little" gt20, if anyone came around the tractor (especially my daughter or other children), I would immediately disengage the pto so no implements were running. There is no subsititute for conscious safety measures.
