What is the cost for the fifty hour service for a BX 24? How entailed is it and is it worth it to have the dealer do it ? Thanks for all the help in my purchase.

We have customers that are quite mechanical in their abilities and do them with no problem.
We also have customers that are mechanically challanged and for many of those they call us. I don't know of your abilities but when at the shop they might pick up on something tht might need to be addressed.

I've done all my own scheduled maintenance on my BX23 which is very similar to your BX24 and if you can change the oil & filter in your car you'll not have any problems w/your BX.
I use OEM fluids, i.e Kubota 10w30 oil, Kubota oil & HST filters and Kubota SUDT. Along with a new air filter expect to spend around $100 for the parts.
Get the gallon size in engine oil as it'll take alittle more than the 3 qts it calls for and also get the 2.5 gal SUDT + an additional qrt as it'll take alittle more than what the manual calls for also. Probably due to the filter changes.
While you have the HST drained and before you refill it you'll also want to pull and clean the HST return filter screen. It won't be unusual to find little slivers and bits in the screen from the break in process of the HST.
The owners manual is pretty self explainatory and is easy to follow.
You'll want to have the FEL, BH and MMM dismounted to allow for easy access for servicing. It also allows for you to do a good walk-around both over and under the tractor to look for anything out of the ordinary.
You can do it in an hr, and for the 1st time a couple hrs max.
Everything is easy to get to w/the implements out of the way.
Good luck

Here is what the dealer will do if you ask for the "Kubota Care" 50 hour service for your BX24:

-install new oils (transmission & hydraulic, motor),
-install new filters (HST, engine, fuel, ),
-adjust (tire pressure, clutch, brakes),
-top off (front axle oil, coolant),
-clean (radiator screen, air filter),
-check or test (various nuts & bolts, hardware, gauges, lights, charging, battery, glow plugs),
-grease the fittings and lube the linkages,
-conduct a general visual inspecion of your BX24,
-fill out the "Kubota Care" checklist for you.

Here is what this would have cost you during the Summer of 2007 (before taxes):
-Labour (2.5 hrs)...... $187.50
-Parts..................... $ 98.95
-Pick up/Delivery....... $ 50.00
-Total ......................$336.45

As you can see, if you do it yourself, you will save about 70% of the total cost. Should you elect to use non Kubota lubricants and filters, the savings could be be even greater.

I did my 50hr service last fall and the only issue was getting the plastic canopy off the engine as described in the manual. Part of the procedure was removing the exhaust tubing - that think just didn't want to come off. So I kinda jiggled and spread the plastic canopy past the exhaust.
Other than that, a decent socket wrench set and some patience - no problem.
