Kubota bx2670
Bought a new BX2670 a couple months ago and love it. Got a fel, mmm and a 50" rev tine tiller but is primarily used for mowing 3 acres of mostly flat ground. But since new I have had a knocking/vibration sensation that could be felt throughout the tractor. Very noticeable. The times I feel it are when traversing alongside a hillside and making abrupt quick turns. The hillside is probably less than 15 degrees. I finally tracked down the spot that is causing the vibration/knocking issue. The bracket that bolts to the motor to the rubber mounts has a 1/4" tab welded to it and it sits perpendicular to the frame with about an 1/8" gap between the tab and frame. Its the same on both sides of motor. Well I've found that when I get on an angle or turn abruptly the motor shifts and that tab vibrates on the frame. No harm yet but very frustrating. I took to dealer to look at but didn't find anything obvious and have not heard any others doing this. They are waiting to hear back from the Kubota Techs. Sorry for the long story but curious if anyone else has heard of this before? From what I've gathered on the the web is that the older 26hp bx's would occasionally break the rubber motor mounts. So Kubota updated the mount by welding on these tabs keeping the motor harnessed better between the frame to prevent excessive motor movement breaking the mounts. So I get why they are there but hope its not something I have to live with on a $15,000 machine. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah I read that too. I've read where a couple others are having same issue. Feels to me like the rubber compound is just too soft and flexible for the larger 26 horse motor.

almost feels like a grinding/binding of the 4 wheel drive when it happens like gears meshing out of time? Mine makes a similar vibration / noise in sharp turns or when mowing my incline in the pasture but i have a new bx2370. I just checked all my fluids and haven't paid it much attention beyond that. Im just keeping tabs on things for now but will check those mounts like you mentioned to see if that could be my issue too. Its kinda hard to describe but that's the best analogy i can come up with, any count its not all that bad when it happens. Just a slight noise and vibration and lets up once im in the straight again.

Interesting to read this. I just stopped in to inquire about inner tubes for the front tires of my 2670...

When I purchased my tractor in the late spring of 2013 all seemed good, UNTIL I started to mow some of the hillsides I own...

What a terrible noise as discribed in both of the posts I am attempting to quote...

It does it on hillsides and sharp turns on most any hillside--even those not steep at all...

The dealer came and looked at it and found the motor mount issue. He tightened them, or centered them, I really don't recall. All went well, but it is starting to do it again this year...

Guess I will check to see if they are loose again...

I wonder if Kubota will change them?--Probably not...

But they way, the mounting bracket on my 60" deck was out of line also--what a terrible job on and offing the deck. I checked it with a square and the bracket was not square to the pins that hold it in place--got that bracket replaced. Anyone else have that problem?...

But, the main purpose of this post is to verify that I too had problems with the motor mounts...

This 2670 has been the worst one I have owned since I started with an 18 hp years ago and worked my way up to the 26 hp...

Disappointing for sure...

Mine does it on the hills if I the right side is on the upside. Doesnt do it if im in the same exact spot and the left side of the tractor is on the upside of the hill. I am not going to worry about it but I will keep an eye out to see if the engine shifts. Other than that it is an amazing tractor.

BTW I checked the tractor when it had 3 hours, 10 and 40 hours and the mounts are tight.

The problem with this is that it's not a safety concern or issue that makes the tractor inoperable. But it is an issue that could effect reliability over time. So kubota may not get real excited about fixing this issue right away. But everyone with the issue needs to report it so kubota knows they have an issue and possibly correct the problem. And yes I wasn't real impressed with my front bracket for my mmm either. I got one adjustment nut upfront ran in an inch farther than the other side to keep the deck close to level. The bracket is visibly not symmetric.

I also bought a new BX 2670 and I am having the same problem when mowing on hill sides..I haven't talked to dealer yet, didn't know for sure what it was. Glad I found this post, has anyone found a real fix for this yet, like someone said it's aggravating on a high price mower..Also mine has rear pto seal leaking and dash with moisture behind glass

Same here ,my 2360 did not do this and I'm mowing the same way. I wonder if 4shorts could come up with a fix even though he has the 23 HP motor on his BX 25 D.

I have a new BX25D that is about 6 months old and have the same issue with 34 hrs on the machine. Right from the start I had a strange knocking sound when mowing. Removed the hood and mowed to find out the mount was hitting the frame. Loosened all the mount to let the engine center itself, for now it is quiet but every once in a while I hear the knock from the mount, only on hills with the left side of the tractor on the downside. The problem will get worse as the rubber mounts wear in more. I am almost ready to grind down the engine mount on the vertical where it is hitting. I previously owned a BX 1860 and loved it, not one problem with 200 hrs on it, it drove like a Cadillac, the BX 25D is like driving a truck. Very disappointed spending this kind of money and have such an annoying problem.

Well I heard from my dealer the other day. Kubota finally got back with him and issued a bulletin repair for our motor mount problem. Kubotas fix, according to my dealer, is to cut 1/4" off the bracket on both sides. Kinda seems like a cheap fix, but apparently some of these motor mount tabs are longer than others. I drilled a hole in the tab and bolted a piece of HD rubber in the gap and everything is smooth on mine for now.

Can you take a picture of where the motor is hitting the motor mount tab?

I just spoke to my dealer and he contacted Kubota service and yes they know about the issue, and no, they are not doing anything about it. They suggested as BDM300 stated you can cut the mount up to 1/4" to keep it from hitting the frame. They stated that the old style mount was getting tweaked because people were putting too much strain on the power train in certain instances. So they beefed up the mounts to solve that problem, while creating another one. Let's see a brand new 20k tractor and a sawzall some how that makes me cringe.... So centering the rubber mounts has quieted down the noise for now but I am sure as the mounts wear I will be looking closer to modifying the mounts. I think the best solution is to support the engine see if the mounts will come out of the frame and shave them down on the bench, paint and reinstall. Wonder what Paul Short would recommend???

I'm not experiencing any of the problems some of you guys are with my BX. That being said I'd like to see some photos of your engine mounts if you could post them. I'll take a few photos of the mounts on mine and post them to make a comparison.
It don't seem like a hard problem to solve but I'd sure like to have an effected unit here in front of me.

I was post #6 on this thread

It was/is interesting to me to see that it is certainly a problem known to Kubota

BUT, it seems they may not be willing to solve it

That is upsetting to me

I started with the BX series and an 18 hp one if I remember correctly. From there I went up in hp each time I purchased the Kubota

In all honesty, quality has dropped with each upgrade in hp that I purchased

Many other things wrong with my 2670 also洋inor stuff and not stuff that affects the performance, but just stuff

All the knobs on the levers can be pulled of easily. The shroud on the right side of the seat broke off, etc. etc

I will look at my motor mounts to see if I can see what the problem is also. I really never looked at them after the dealer came and adjusted them

BUT, they are beginning to make the noise again

And so it goes

i posted earlier too, if someone can post a pic....i my attempt to fix/grind it off myself if i can get something in writing from Kubota stated to do so....

Will get some pics this weekend so you can see what is going on. The only time you really notice the noise is if you are mowing on a hill and one side of the tractor is on the downside. I have used the backhoe and bucket with no issues.

Tis true...

Although I don't have a backhoe from mine...

I mow some pretty steep places and it is really noticeable when I turn up or down hill after mowing along the contour...
