Hey Folks,

I am new to TBN and committed a sin yesterday by posting a brand specific thread in the general discussion forum. Here I am at the right spot, I guess. New to your world but I did decide for a Kubota; the question is, which is the right one?

I have a property of well over 20 acres in Nova Scotia. 10 acres being a field partly on a hill, only 65 feet high, but with some pretty steep slopes. The field has been mowed once or twice a year so far by someone with a big tractor and a cutter. I want to do it myself and try to make it into something in between a pasture and a lawn. I think I could achieve this by mowing once or twice a month, using a bx 2660 with a 60" mmm. Although I would use the tractor mostly for mowing, there are other things that should be done once I have the tractor; snow plowing, taking care of a lot of dead wood and trees etc.

I like the bx 2660, since it has a low center of gravity and allows me to maneuver freely around the trees on the field. I also like things a bit smaller in general. However, I don't want to buy it, only to find out that I should have gotten the larger one, which would be the b 3200. I bought a BCS walk behind tractor earlier; mowing the field took me 20 hours and I lost 5 pounds ( the weight loss was ok, but the time was ridiculous).

Please help me out. Thanks in advance, toon

I currently have a BX2350 MMM and a B3200 FEL. I have hillside, gullied, rocky and some trees property. I use the BX2350 for mowing due to it's stability on the sides of hills. I use the B3200 in areas where I need the higher ground clearance. If you don't need the higher ground clearance then the BX will do the job but if ground clearance is an issue then the B will do the job but always go straight up and straight down your hills.

Seems to me that with the amount of property you have you would want to go with the bigger B3200. I have a B3030 with rear wheel spacers and have no problem with the steep slopes that I have.

If you can afford it, I would go with the bigger tractor also. The BX will get the job done, the bigger tractor will do better, espically with the higher ground clearance.

I constantly torture myself by thinking I should trade up to a b from a bx24. One thing that has made me hesitate is thinking that I might be surprised with less stability on my sloping hills with the b machine. Having used both tractors on hills, do you feel the stability of the bx is signficantly greater than the b3200?

I believe "feel" is the key word. Yes. Here is a picture of my house and the yard immediately in front of my house does a fairly steep drop. I would never drive across it on my B3200 FEL. I drive across it slowly all the time on my BX's. I drive across parts of the rest of my land with the B but I'm not as comfortable as I am on the BX. Will drive straight up and straight down any of it on my B or even the L but not across it. Was very uncomfortable on even more of it with my previous L. Love the B for power and ground clearance but the BX's are grand as you know. I don't know if sitting on the upper edge of the seat when crossing a hill really helps but I feel safer doing it on the BX than I do the B. Guess I know my 200+ lbs won't really do that much for the B and maybe it will for the BX. Hope I never find out I'm wrong!:) Go to a Kubota dealer that has a sloped or ditched lot and drive a B and you will "feel" the difference and you may be OK with it or come to Somerset, Ky and I'll let you drive mine and see what you think.

JT,
That's helpful, thanks for the experienced input and advice. Beautiful land there in Kentucky, isn't it.
