Howdy All,

After crawling around under the BX I decided to dig thru the extra stuff laying around and put a real skid plate under the vitals, 10 days of rain also had something to do with my boredom.

The rear skid plate is 1/4 inch plate. It rides against the yoke bolts, It is held on by the back hoe lower plate front bolts. It front is hanging on the lower bolts from the factory plate.

The front skid is made from 3/16 plate, couldn't find any perforated so I made my own with a old black and decker drill and adult beverage inspiration.

I bent the plates by cutting by bend lines with a thin grinding wheel then welding them when happy with t he angle.

I notched out the rear plate to accommodate the rear PTO, I may down the road cut a circle in the front plate so I can leave the front on with MMM usage. I will probably put a bolt on cover over the hole.

The front plate is held on with 4 3/8 bolts two of which are in the rear skid plate, these are tapped to avoid a backing nut.

Another cool thing is the original Kubota skid plate is still on.

It is easy on and off to service, speaking of which after changing the fuel filters for the first time I moved them to a bracket on the left side by the brake pedal.

If any body needs plate dimensions let me know and yes I know I need a welding class someday, It ain't pretty but it holds.

The front will look better painted.

Ahhh, Next A grapple for the front.....

Good job, looks like it will handle about anything you can do! I didn't bother to weld mine as my skills don't yet exsist...I have the welder just need to teach myself. :)

Thanks Tom
Plug away at the welding, it is a acquired skill and fun to do.
It saves lots of time on the projects.
There are some excellent books out there on getting started, I am still ugly at it but one thing is for sure with Mig welding make sure the material is very clean including getting the mill slag off.
Shiny is best, you will do well at it and have fun!
