Nope, never really cared for Rotella. Always seemed to make the engine run louder in my truck.

Honestly, in a tractor unless you are shooting for thousands of hours on the engine, I personally feel it is a waste of money. In a truck or car, I do run a synthetic.

I used to use Rotella 10W-30, but recently I couldn't find it. So now I use Rotella T-5 Synthetic Blend, also 10W-30. I recently turned 1,000 hrs with no engine problems.

100 hrs is about all I get out of an air filter also.

I use T6 Rotella and I have no complaints. I noticed the engine was less noisy on cold mornings with the synthetic Rotella. The cost difference is not a lot for the tractors and generator.

At my 50 hr change (BX25) I used the T6 Rotella 5w40. I have it in my 2000 Jeep Cherokee too and don't have any complaints. I expect to have nice easy starts this winter when I have to plow the driveway in 10 degree weather. I feel a little more comfortable using a synthetic for the few extra bucks that it costs. It's probably no real advantage over standard high quality diesel oil if you keep up with the recommended oil change interval.

Most oils do just fine if you change at regular intervals. If you are in colder climates at start up a 5w-x is going to be better than a 15-x. If you abuse the oils, that is when the oils really show their colors. Normal use they are pretty much equal.

Not true! Synthetics shine in all weather conditions, especially cold starting. If you have ever started your tractor at -40, then you would be greatful for synthetic.

OP, we run either T6, or Valvoline 5W40 syn, both are excellent oils.

Here I thought you was running a good oil! Just busting your chops.

Most people generally never keep a tractor long enough to make a difference on the type of oil they use was my point.

Honestly though, unless you abuse your tractor, you are never going to see an oil related issue and if you do have a problem, it is going to be arguable that it wasn't a part failure in the first place.

-40 or not synthetic ought not to make a difference since a x-40 weight should be the same viscosity regardless if it is synthetic or not.

I must agree with you! Dino oils have advanced so much in the past twenty years, it is amazing. Look at Delo for example. Up here, synthetic is not much more than dino, unless you buy boutique oils like RP, Amsoil, and the like.
