BX 2200 Battery Replacement??

The thread on the B7500 battery replacement got me to thinking my battery is from 2002 and I think I am on borrowed time for replacement. I use a solar battery charger/minder when not in use. BUT I know the first time it is 10F with a foot of snow to be taken care of the Bota will not start.

So tractorsmart gets $83 plus shipping for a Kubota battery. Anyone know the type of battery used on a BX2200 and if Wally World sells them?

Mine is a slightly earlier vintage than yours. It was used to a warm garage and the one day I parked it in the cold for several hours last spring did the battery in- not even a click.

I did the Costco route, but paid around $50 for a generic battery more powerful than OEM. 12V. The posts were on the front side, but the wires are plenty long enough to reach.

I would buy a basic Wally World battery if they are readily available.

I am in North Central Indiana where it gets darned cold, and I am still running strong on my original battery with my BX2200, it sits outside (covered) and always starts even in the coldest weather, with no auxiliary charging. Are you sure that you really need one? And if you do, I would price one from Napa, most likely better quality than the Wally batteries, and competitive pricing.
Just a thought.

I don't replaces batties until I need to. I don't consider that a PM thing.

No reason to replace your battery before it dies on you. Bear in mind that you can always jump start your tractor. Make sure you have a set of jumper cables and you're all set.

$84 isn't bad for a Kubota battery. Shipping will add some $$$ I suppose... You can always put in a completely different battery and if the cables don't reach replace them with longer ones. Positive goes to starter, negative to frame.

Anyone that has replaced the battery have the battery size/number for a non-kubota battery? The tractor is in a shed with no car near by.

I just replaced my six and one half year old BX2200 battery with a 24F from Rural King that was on sale for $39.95, 60 month warranty, slightly larger than original, fit just fine. Kubota dealer wanted $97.00 for the battery.

For what it is worth i bought a 26R-5N for my b 7100 it was around 45 last year 535 cca and demensions are 6.5" deep 7" tall and 8 " long

I was not able to use oem hold down however it is held into place by the hood andthe short cables to it

always starts right up

check at wally world they may have something compatable

I replaced the battery in my BX1500 with a 1000CrankingAmp car battery from Walmart with a 5yr warranty for $59 a couple yrs ago. I think its $69 now.

I know this is a really OLD thread but I have a related question. I have replaced my battery in my BX2200 with a larger "car" battery. I am now having overheating problems. The screen is clean. It runs about 10-15 min then suddenly the needle goes into the red.

The question is could it possibly have anything to do with the larger battery blocking air flow to the radiator?

Also does anyone know the correct size battery used in the BX2200?

No. There is plenty of room for air to get around the battery and enter the radiator. If it indeed appeared immediately after the change open it back up and inspect for a label or receipt that got sucked into the works.

Well I finally got around to getting the correct size battery 26R. And surprise no more over heating. So you can block to much air with a larger battery. Before when it was in the 80's it would run just under the red. If it was in the high 90's I couldn't run more than 20 min before it was in the red. After changing the battery I mowed for 2 1/2 hours today and never went above half of the gauge.

Interesting. It must be a bit tighter up there on the BX2200 than the BX1500. Mine only overheats when the radiator screen or the cowl screen gets debris in it.
