BX 22 is spitting out coolant below the water pump and on top of a round housing that bolts to the block below the water pump housing. (Unfortunately, it is not coming from the water pump shaft seal. That would not be too bad to get to.) For some reason, despite all the manuals that came with it, we don't seem to have a picture of the water pump end of the motor. The round housing has some vents in it, sort of like the back of an alternator, but it does not have a pulley attached to it. (The coolant is not coming out of the vents, but rather over the top of the housing.)

Anyone able to direct me to a picture of the front of the motor and/or have any bright ideas? (Its also not the bottom coolant hose. It's just really tight in there and I can't get a look.)

I'd like to be able to have the repair parts on hand before taking it all apart. (We are getting lots of snow these days and I can keep using it by adding coolant. We'll be snowbound if it is out of commission for several days.)

Thanks,

DOC

Most every water pump I have ever seen, has a weep hole in the bottom of the casting, between the seal and bearing assembly. When the seal goes bad, the water comes out the bottom, not out of the end of the shaft. Look carefully and see if the coolant is dripping out of the underside of the pump.

Yep...in the auto world, that's a classic bad water pump...
