Well Guys,

I am faced with the decision between the BX 1870 and the BX 2370. I want plenty of power for blowing wet heavy snow, byt still want a manuverable machine around building and when cutting grass around trees and in tight spots. Will I notice a difference in power blowing snow and in manuverability between the 2 models?

Hi Bergy, I think the horse power does make a difference.
It will be cheaper now to purchase the right machine that it would be to purchase the smaller one and not be happy
and have to trade up.
Maneuverability should be the same

I am also considering the BX 2670.

Also, anyone hear of changes to the models. I heard they are changing the ROPS and the foot area on the BX series? Any details?

Those models are recent and I would say it will be a couple of years before we see another change. I'm currently running a 1800 with a front blower and it handles it well but more horsepower would blow more.

What all you planning to do with it?

Isn't the BX series is a little over kill for just mowing the lawn and snow blowing.

A garden tractor would be better suited and probably less costly, and not as heavy (if you have soft spots in you lawn)
Many garden tractors have unique steering capabilities which would be much better suited for mowing.
Some are even 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive and are very good for snow blowing.

I think the 2370 has bigger tires and a better seat which would be nice.

Arts a dealer in the northern regions with experience on many levels and looks like he answered the question you asked. Some times you get answers for questions you don't ask and even questions back.
I some times ask for specific answers from people with actual experience with a specific machine and still get answers from people that have seen a tractor but never really owned one or even a different brand.:D

I have owned an BX1860 and now a BX25, which has the same motor as the BX2370. In my opinion, the biggest reason to go with the higher HP machine is for demanding PTO work. Lifting, pulling, pushing stuff, you won't see any real difference. Running a PTO chipper, generator, or a snow blower, yes, you will notice the difference. Since one of your main tasks is blowing snow, I would recommend the BX2370 over the BX1870. Good luck, and let us know what you end up with.

We have just had a couple of warm days and the garage at my home was built wrong! Everything off the roof drops on the driveway which can become quite a mess if allowed to thaw drop and then freeze in front of the doors. It took a bit Sunday AM to pull all that we could off of it. It was wet and watery and about a foot deep by three to five feet wide. The BX blew it fine although when going across the 70ft of the front garage I had not raised the hood so I was blowing some of it two or three times to get it off the pavement and at that point I thought how nice it might be to have more horsepower. Was it a must, no it would have just given me less tractor time!
