Buying "the best" Garden tools

Lately, I have had this thing about buying the best garden hand tools that I can find. It started when I bought a great American seeder by Hoss, then it went on from there. I have found that buying only the best I can find has given me a new appreciation for working in the garden. By '
"the best", I mean any tool that has superior feel when using it and looks like it was crafted with care that would make it last decades under hard use. I recently purchased a garden hoe from sneeboer, and it is a fine tool as well. If anyone has links or suggestions for garden tools that work well, I would love to know about them. If they are made locally it's even better, but I have found only a few select companies that are made here in the USA. Happy Homesteading!

Not necessarily just garden tools, but look at Peavey Manufacturing right up there in Maine. They make exceptional logging tools, and some garden stuff as well. It's an old company. Their prices are very reasonable. I have a few of their logging tools, and the workmanship is top notch.

Earth tools in Kentucky sells a lot of my favorite brands. The Dutch swan-neck hoes are the best I've ever used. If you spilt much wood get a gransfors bruks. I love mine. Felco pruners are great too. There's a company called Heath Forge that makes real nice long-handled digging forks that I like a lot; at 6'2" those short handled spade forks drive me crazy.

Santa is always looking for quality garden tools for The Plant Manager.
Like motocephalic, I have a thing for "in the hand" fell for quality & heft.
I was very fortunate to inherit my dad's garden tools, many of which were his father's.
Grampa worked for the state highway department in the 1910's - 1950's and his tools have spoiled me.
There is no comparing an old DPW shovel to a modern store bought shovel - not even close.
And don't get me started on garden hoes.

Water Right garden hose. Very pricey but made in USA and my 80 year old mom is demanding we switch out all our hoses for them. Do a internet search for them. The 1/2 inch is fine and gives full pressure, very very light,drinking water safe, and once you get them straight they just won't kink.

A "stirrup hoe" is on of the best style hoes I can think of for light tilled dirt. Works great when weeds are small, more as a maintenance tool. I dont know where you would get a "hefty one, but I got my new one from Lowes and my old one grandad gave me.
