buying subcompact

I am looking for a sub compact, with loader and hoe. What is the
smallest one NH has and what should I expect to pay for it. I live in
upstate NY. Willing to go out of state to save on sales tax.

The smallest NH with a loader is the TZ series. NH doesn't have a bh for it, but I believe Woods has the Groundbreaker series for it. The smallest NH Loader/BH is the TC series which is the Compact series.

I work for a school district in South Texas. I am looking for a mower to replace my Jacobsen triPlex that we used for our athletic fields. I want to get away from reel type mower, and pretty much have narrowed it down to either NH TZ24DA with 54" belly and a 60" flail mower, OR a JD 790 with 60"flail mower. I think the JD is a litlte more beefy, but I like getting an additional mower(54" belly). The JD costs $10800, with trade-in, and the NH is $9250 with trade-in. The mower will be used almost strictly for athletic field mowing, buy since the NH has the belly mower, can use it in a bind when other mowers are down....I guess my question is, do you think the NH will hold up with the 60" flail? Kelly, what is the weight of the 60" flail mower? I know those can be pretty heavy and they might overload the TZ24DA. I believe a more comparable tractor to the JD790 would be the NH TC30. I'm not sure they can be rigged for a MMM, but I believe they can. The price for a gear model TC30 would be close to the price you listed for the JD790.

Any of these tractors would be more flexible for other tasks than the Jacobsen since they both have 3PH and can have a FEL added. I just think the 60" flail is a little much for the TZ24DA, especially if that is the mower you will use 80% of the time. If you were primarily using the belly mower and had occasional use of the flail, it might be okay, but the light frame TZ24 would not be my choice.

Thanx for the reply Jim. The weight is 383 lbs. They also have a 50" that weighs 348 lbs.The salesman and the catalog both say that this TX24 can handle either. Here is the link to them NH flail mowers The salesman flat out said no problem with the 60". He used to be at the parts counter, just got into sales. We bought a 3010 from them several years ago, as well as a couple other items and have always been satisfied with their service.....a little slow getting parts sometimes, but over all pleased with them. From what i have read the last few days, finding a dealer you like working with is over half the battle. It has a 2 year warranty, so I should find out within that time it will handle it, don't ya think? Besides, I'm going to tell him, that if the tractor does not do as advertised, I have no problem comin down on him..........and I'll tell him I know where he lives /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Please let me know what ya think after lookin at the flail specs, thanx again, Kelly

Considering the light weight of that flail mower, I'd say it would be no problem at all. I wrongly assumed it would be 600 to 700 lb. Go for it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
