Kubota B2620
I'm finishing up buying my new B2620. First tractor. Went back and forth on this or a BX25D, but really liked the B better. Bit more in $, but spending so much anyway I wanted to make sure I'd be happy with it.

Question is, did I get everything that should get me off to a good start?

B2620 w/ turfs, BH65 BH w/ thumb and 12" bucket, 60" MMM, FEL, 4' box blade. Going getting a set of chain hooks welded on to the bucket as well.

I did not get the quick attach. I'm not buying a set of forks now, and I'm not sure what else I would need it for that would justify the expense right now. It can be added later if needed correct?

Homeowner w/ just less than 2 acre. Flat and open lot, with a good number of mature trees. Mostly going to be used for mowing as well as some landscaping projects and general digging an hauling. Stump removal.

-FEL should be good enough for snow removal so I can ditch my snowblower. 75' asphalt drive. Barely used it last year anyway. Mostly needed when the Nor'Easters come in.

-Our lot is heavy clay and pretty flat, so drainage can be pretty poor in some places. I plan to put french drains etc, to improve the drainage over time. Had to have a backhoe.

-Also going to build a garden, but will be constructed of raised beds, so no need for a tiller or plow anytime soon that I can see.

Anything else I should get? I'm already at the top of where I set the budget, so no plans for anything big.

Thanks for all the advise. I did lot of reading before I went to buy and this forum was very informative.

Looks like you did good to me. Get these, use them for awhile and then decide what jobs are slow to do and if a few hundred extra dollars expenditure will be worth it.

Congrats and welcome. Your loader will be plenty to handle your snow removal needs so you can definitely ditch the walk behind snow blower.

Enjoy!

I just upgraded from a BX 25 to a "B" 2920 as I wanted more hydraulic power for the three point hitch and I rarely used the back hoe. I chose the 2920 over the 2620 as it has more power and the dealer made me such a deal. I did get the quick detachable bucket and pallet forks . If you think you might want the quick detachable bucket later I would get it now. I'm also having the dealer re-enforce the top of the bucket and weld chain hooks on it. I had chain hooks on my BX and used them frequently. I'm also moving my fiberglass canopy and work lights to the new "B" . It should be delivered on Thursday. Good luck with your new tractor. My property is slightly over an acre and I do some work helping neighbors. I find a new use for the Kubota every day.

Congrats. I've got a B2920 with a similar array of attachments. If you didn't do it you'll want to get your rear tires filled, it's a must if you're doing any loader work and for snow work. You'll probably want to take the BH off much of the time and without it you have no real ballast back there without loaded tires. Other than that you might look at a back-blade for snow removal, I have a 6' one that I use to clear a big area, we get more snow than you, but it makes short work of anything under about 10". The FEL also works, but is tough for large areas because it doesn't push off to the side. I also have a wallenstein BX42 chipper, which is a great fit for the tractor and probably my most used attachment, a 3 pt trailer hitch comes in handy, definitely get the bucket hooks and you may also find a 'carry all' to be useful if you move things like firewood or just have a lot of stuff to move around. Also if you don't have the worklights those are a must for any night work, especially snow clearing, the headlights are blocked by the FEL when in use.

You also may want to look at building a dolly for the BH65 backhoe. I created one for mine and it makes putting it on and taking it off a hundred times easier and you can move it around to get it out of the way when it's not being used. Here's the link: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/236155-bh65-backhoe-dolly-build.html

Enjoy!

A quick hitch for the 3PH would be handy if your box blade is Qh compatible.

Thanks for the responses.

Couple big ?'s I couldn't answer. How much does it cost to fill the rear tires on a tractor like this? Is it a big negative for mowing?

I had in initially, but I let it go during the haggling as I wasn't really sure of the cost and figured I could always have the bb on those times I needed the fel. Its not ideal however.

The quick attach: it was about 280 iirc. Right now it looks like very few items can use this other than the ones kubota makes (ie forks). Correct? For both its about a grand.
Also looks like kubota is redesigning this a bit for a soon to be released tractor that may use a more common ssqa setup. If I'm not in a rush to get forks (sadly since they are not free) I'm not understanding the advantage.

I have about another 500 I can put in, so I want to use it wisely. A carryall does look really useful and was going to go for that. Everything Attachments has a 1000 lb unit for $255. Easy enough to mount a receiver hitch to that too.
So that leaves only another 250. Plus I still need to get a trailer. Just something lite duty. Harbor freight has a trailer for $300 that is good enough for running around town with and can hold 4ラ8 sheets from the hardware store. Looks like I'm tapped out after that. I like the idea of the quick attach, but I'm not seeing the value right now over the other two.

Clever work on the bh dolly. I saw that in my research and def have making ones on my to do list.

Will be storing the Bh most of the time so need it compact but easy to get out and use also.

The bh was an expensive must-have. I know it won't get used much, but no way I want do do more digging in my hard clay. Slow and painful, plus my back got a bit thrown out a couple.yrs ago and I do not want to hurt it again. Plus backhoes are a **** of a lot of fun. :)

I have similar soil and the BH is really nice. Some people say clay sticks in the smaller buckets, i have a 16" and never had an issue, not sure if you would on the 12". On the carry all TSC has one too that was pretty cheap, i got that one and built a removable deck for it and of course a dolly (everything has a dolly!)

I'm not sure on the rear tire fills as mine were filled by the dealer already, but i don't think its more than a couple hundred. It won't matter for mowing that much and will be a must for winter traction or FEL use unless you keep the BH on, but that makes the tractor very long and nearly doubles its weight (bad for your grass)

I saw the carryall at tsc and remember it looked nice. Cant recall the price tho. Sure its close.

What did they fill your tires with? I've seen antifreeze, window wash fluid, foam and even quickcrete lol. Don't think ill be going with concrete haha.
