Buying Advice Buying New 4720 JD with cab any advise would be great.

I looked @ the 5083e but to much tractor for what I need and also to big to get around in some of the woods roads that I need to get down. I have another question for you guys I read on one post that when running the AC unit the condenser clogged up after a couple hours say mowing and that you would need a air tank with you to clean out since they do not have a removable screen to clean. This is the main reason I'm getting the Cab for the AC is this correct?

I have a removable screen on both my JD110 and the 5075M. Have'ta believe that the 4720 would also have a radiator screen..

On my 4520, the screen that plugs up the most is the screen on the grill. Usually, I just let the tractor cool down, shut if off and clean the grill. Every once in the while, at the end of the day or when I start in the am, I will clean all the radiators, coolers ect. For me the grill catches most of the stuff that causes the tractor to run hot.

We own a commercial landscape and constuction installation business.We have deere 4720s and kubota 5740s.We only buy machines that fit our needs.We are not brand loyal in any way.If a machine is durable,reliable and is low maintenance,that is what we purchase.Our 4720s have been a real nightmare.Constant problems.Our biggest gripe is the front loaders.They are way too complicated!The kubota loaders are far better design.Simple and very durable.The deer loaders over time become very loose,even with the stupid bolt used to take up the slack.(This bolt has failed at least twice)Our other major gripe is the cable system that ties into the valve box that runs the loader.The kubota loader lever is a direct link into the valve box.(much better feel)We have had issues with the cables.If you are using forks,it can be very difficult because the cables are not very smooth.It is very difficult to unload pallets without jerking them in the air!We have also broken off the tabs on the quick attach points from where the loader mounts to the bucket.This can get very expensive.The deere cab machines are also very top heavy.The kubotas are a lot more stable on slopes.None of our fuel guages have ever read the proper amount of fuel in the tank.They still do not have a factory fix for this!The fuel sending unit has been replaced 3 times on one machine!All of our machines are maintained to factory specs.We have thoasands of hours on both types.We will replace the 4720s with 5740s very soon.The kubotas from our experience are a superior machine that is well thought out and we have the hours and experience to back it up.I hope this helps you in some way so you don,t have the experiences we had to go through.

You call yourself orange, bash Deere in your only two posts, and promote Kubota but are not brand loyal in any way? Good luck with that one. At least I admit I'm biased toward Deere and would have nothing else.

In this guys defense... I've heard a couple of these complaints from Deere owner's! Loose loaders and difficult to snug things back up. Faulty fuel gauges (although I don't recall anyone complaining about the gauges in the cab models).

And the JD QA system - breaking the tab, bending the lower pin and breaking the casting hole on the lower FEL QA mount. Some hard use there; no doubt.

The cable linkage for the FEL joystick contro is a new one... don't ever recall anyone having an issue with that?!?

Nobody makes a perfect tractor; nonetheless if you fail to recognize where something needs to be changed and improved - you better get used to folk's lookin' for an opportunity to give you a swift kick in the pants!!

And the JD QA system - breaking the tab, bending the lower pin and breaking the casting hole on the lower FEL QA mount. Some hard use there; no doubt.

The cable linkage for the FEL joystick contro is a new one... don't ever recall anyone having an issue with that?!?

Nobody makes a perfect tractor; nonetheless if you fail to recognize where something needs to be changed and improved - you better get used to folk's lookin' for an opportunity to give you a swift kick in the pants!!

I also looked up the Kubota L5740 seems to be very similar size and likely a good tractor but doubt there is that much difference in stability, these two tractors are very similar in stance and weight.

Very true... I spent some time in the cab of a L5740 "Grand". Very nice tractor. Although, I honestly believe that the cab on the 4000 series tractors is just a "wee" bit better. Not dramatically better - but just that little bit extra in fit and finish.

It seemed that the finish of the 3pt hardware and the layout of the hydraulics was just better... on the Green machine, too.

Did like the loader on the Grand's, though. Have to give the edge there to those Orange guys.
