This is a case of an apples to oranges comparision. I guess it would be a green apple to orange comparision.
The 3120 with 300cx loader is rated for a bit under 1600# at the PIVOT POINTS, which means it really has a useable capacity INSIDE the bucket of roughly 1,120#.
The Kubota has about 850# at the same measurement point.
The 3120 has an independant rear PTO while the L2800 uses (what I consider) an antiquated and vastly inferior mechanical PTO with an overriding clutch. If you upgrade to an L2800 HST, then you get a live continuous with overriding clutch.
The L2800 is considered a budget tractor in the Kubota line. It would be more closely related to the JD 790, which is a shade less powerful, but of similar old style design and is a JD budget machine.
I think the JDs downsized some of their components and use smaller driveshafts in some of their CUTs than other brands, but I'm not sure what type of alloy they use so it is possible (although unlikely) that it is just as sturdy as one twice its size. The JD is clearly the superior tractor between these 2 units, but it doesn't mean you are comparing similar units. Remember you usually get what you pay for, so be careful in your comparisons, you may find that some of the little things are worth extra money. FWIW, I don't think 12 acres is too large for a B3030/B7800 and understand that just like the L series, there is more to the tractor than just what you can see with an inexperienced eye.
