buying compact tractor 30hp range

I am looking to buy a new tractor in the 30hp range 4x4 and would like any info on what may or may not be the best value for the dollar . looking at all brands and all manuf. so any help would be great.

Two of the tractors in the 30 hp class I like best are the John Deere 790 and New Holland TC 30...
They offer the most bang for the buck in this hp tractor. There is no bells an whistles but
each is loaded with everything you need to get the job done.

The JD 790 is available with 8 sp gear transmission only.
The NH TC 30 is available with 9 sp gear or HST drive.
Other then the above, the size, weight, price are very similar
The HST drive adds at least a $1000 dollar...

Branson 2810 - shuttle, 12x12, lots of extra features
Century 2028 - same as Branson
Mahindra
Scorpion/TYM T300 - makes the Korean Manhindras but with Kubota engines
Cub Cadet - some are Mitsubishi, some are Kioti
Long Agribusiness LT300 - VERY full featured
PowerTrac - articulated tractor
+ many boutique/specialty tractors

You need to state your needs clearly to get further guidance. Also, regardless of the brand, the most important thing is the dealer - will he service you.

I almost didn't even price Deere. I ended up finding it to be the best value. Your mileage may vary, but leave no stone unturned.

I would add the Kubota
B7800 - economy model comparable to the NH TC30

B2910 - more operator comfort and convenience features, like the NH TC33D

and L3130 - getting some really great reviews - "on a bigger frame, for not many more dollars"

Really boils down to (1) what you want/need to do with the tractor, (2) which one fits you best, both ergonomically and economically, and (3) which dealer you think will best provide service if/when you need it. [not necessarily in priority order /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif]

The "other" thing we need to know is if you need 30HP total or 30 PTO HP. Makes a big difference in the tractor we would recommend (cost too). How about a budget as well?

I just purchased a Kubota L3130 HST 4WD with 32HP, but the PTO power is only rated at 24HP. Makes a difference in the size of the cutter I can power.

I would recomend the korean tractors: Mahindra 2810 28 hp availible in gear with syncroshuttle or hydro, or go up to the 3510 35 hp in gear trans. Kioti and branson/century all have a good product also but i think Mahindra has a better total package, product support, parts availiblity, dealer net work etc. But try as many of them as you can pick the one you feel most comfortable with.

I just got a Kubota B7800 and really like it. I don't have many hours on it, but am happy with it so far. For the money in the compact group I think it is the most tractor for the money. I don't consider the Kubota L series to be compact, too large for my land. I also looked at the 33D and 4310 JD. Both are fine tractors, the Kubota just fit by land better.

I'm also new to this site and have spent all my time since I found TBN just going through all the threads and posts, just to give this novice some very useful info, before even going into see a dealer. Start visiting dealers tomorrow.
PS, I thought Mahindra was made in India?

I believe the Mahindra compacts are made in S. Korea.
Not sure of the model numbers though.

All Mahindra models ending in 10 are made in Korea by TYM using Daedong/Kioti engines. All others are made in India.

I just looked at Kubota's B7800 tractor and it has some pretty good features.I liked its tight turning radius,control layout, and especially liked how quiet the engine is. For about $1500 more , I could get into the much more loaded B2910. This is the same machine as the B7800 with a few more bells & whistles for a few more dollars. I also like the fact that Kubota makes its own engines., no guessing as to where it came from.

i have a kubota b2100 and i am looking to move up to a larger tractor(mx5000 or m4900) ilooked at all colors and i think that the fact that kubota makes their own engines led me to orange...just a presonal thing i quess

Yanmar builds some of the highest rated small diesels in the world. Deere is fortunate to have them under their hoods.

OK I admit it. I am prejudiced but!!!!!! Between <font color="blue"> blue </font> , <font color="green"> green</font>, and <font color="orange"> orange </font> I got more bang for my buck with an MX5000 in the 40 to 50 hp range. Almost got <font color="orange"> 4310 </font> but fortunately nobody had one within 500mi. Wound up with the <font color="orange"> MX5000 </font> and couldn't be happier. Amazing how maneuverable it is between trees with a bushhog or disc and that extra hp. has come in handy clearing saplings. I had some previous experience with Kubotas and was impressed with how much punishment they would take. Just My .02
