A couple months ago I had a small war with skunks. During that small event I expended several rounds of #4 Buckshot. Having a blind spot in the center of vision in my aiming eye makes a first shot hit difficult. Always get them on the second. Shook the box and there were only four rounds left in it and I put three of them on the shotgun saddle. Went to the two largest ammo retailers in the area and both laughed when I asked about shotgun Buckshot shells. None to be had. Then I started looking online for shells. MAN, prices have gone up, and shipping on the cheapest sites was outrageous. Without taking an actual inventory and having the ammo stored in several different places I put in orders from two different online companies for what I THOUGHT I needed. Then AFTER the money had been spent and the ammo had arrived and was being stored I realized I had made a mistake. I made out an inventory sheet and started pulling shells out from here and there. HOLY SMOKES, I have enough 00 Buckshot to start a small war. But no 4 Buck which is what I use on pest animals. And when did I buy this Federal Punch 22 self defense ammo? I just ordered and recieved more. Glad I didn't order any 16-gauge for the one single shot shotgun cause I found three boxes of that.
So, after I spent the money and the ammo has arrived I did an inventory and started organizing my storage. Actually ordered four Plano shotgun shell storage boxes and got a couple more from Harbor Freight. Pistol ammo is now stored with like caliber pistols. Shotgun ammo stored in ammo boxes (where will I store them). And a bunch of junk in the trash. Didn't realize I had this many holsters.
Wife is making herself scarce and went to bed in the other bedroom because she was tired and her side of the bed was covered in ammo boxes. After being married for 50+ years she knows to stay out of the way when I'm in a clean and organize frenzy.
I just wish I had done the inventory first before ordering. And some advice. If you do order online you come out better if you check the total cost with shipping added before ordering. One company wanted $43 for shipping three boxes of shells. Another had a flat rate of $9.99 for an entire mixed order.
