Do you have hills to mow? If so then scalping on one side will be a problem if you have to mow any of the hill on side slope. As long as you can go straight with the slope, scalping wont happen but if you have to sideslope mow any at all, the low side is going to scalp if the deck is any wider than the wheeltrack. My 52" which is just a bit wider than the tire tracks scalps bad on the low side when I have to mow hills. Most of my hills are like a ball and slope to all sides so a bit of scalping is inevitable.Opinions on the Hustler Fastrak 54" rear discharge with 23 HP Kaw? Would the 48 inch be better for not scalping, or would it make much difference? The only humps I have in the yard are molehills that pop up ..
Humps like mole hills are going to scalp with any size mower.
