Whats the point of having the certificate? Why does anyone care? You do not have to title a tractor to transfer it and a sales slip is an equal proof of ownership.
Buying a used Bx22?? a few questions.

It also might have to do with the state the selling dealer is located in or it might have to do with the size of the tractor. Do you have a Certificate of Origin for the BX tractor???? If you do, I am going to pursue getting a Certificate on my BX 22 tractor.... Does anyone reading this have a Certificate of Origin for their BX series tractor?????
It also could be that a Certificate of Origin is produced if the tractor is large enough to require a license plate because it would be used on a public roadway.
Possibly one of the Kubota dealers that frequent these forums could help clear up the question as to how, when, and why a Certificate of Origin is issued and what determines if the dealer passes this onto the buyer...

I don't know what the point is. Perhaps it would mean something or nothing to a future buyer. I think it would mean more than a sales slip from an unknown business for example. Have such a certificate might lower the chances that a buyer was receiving stolen property, for example. Usually the cirtificate would no be kept with the tractor, so it would be hard to steal both in most cases.
Easy to forge a receipt...harder to forge true Certificate of Origin, though certainly not impossible...having one might be better, can't be worse...price is the same... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am going to call my dealer about that. Since I financed the bx I don't think I asked for the cirtificate of origin, thinking it was like a title...and that I would worry about it when the loan was paid off.
So if I remember on Monday I am going to call and ask.

Having been a licensed new car dealer at one time, I am familiar with the Certificate of Origin and I specifically asked for one when purchasing the BX. The fact that you have the certificate is important for proving ownership if the tractor was stolen. It, like a title should go with the tractor when it is sold. If there is no proof of ownership beyond a bill of sale, a subsequent owner could dispute your claim of theft if the tractor was recovered many years later. Unfortunately, police reports get lost or never have all the necessary facts. That is why almost all states now require titles for motor vehicles, trailers, etc. I have heard of fraudulent titles, but I have never seen a forged Certificate of Origin, but I am certain that someone somewhere had done it.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

SUNBELT (on the East Coast) has construction trailers for rent that will easily take a Kubota and have adjustable ramps on the back. About $ 125 per day and they have the brake hookups. Bring your own rachet tiedowns.
Forget U-Haul and Ryder, etc.....call construction rental places.
