I moved into this place about a year ago. First time living in the country. 4 acres of grass and 40 acres of trees.
I bought a 60" ZT which I like but I can see the need for a tractor to cut and move trees as the need arises. I'm not interested in clear cutting but cutting down dead trees, fallen trees and general thinning out.
There is a lumber mill about 15 miles down the road so I would need to buy a pull behind trailer where I could stack a few cut trees and sell them.
What I am thinking right now for a tractor:
1) Diesel
2) 4x4
3) Pre emission standards (before 2014)
4) Package deal if possible (front end loader, box blade, trailer, lumber jaws for moving cut trees)
5) 35-50 HP, preferably closer to 50 HP.
6) Name brand tractor for parts and service.
Anyone have advice that would help me out? I've attached a picture of the layout of my property.
