Rear Blade Buying a Land Pride grader scraper tomorrow - shall I get the GS1572 or GS2572?

hammick - VERY nice. Looks EXACTLY like mine. Just remember - start small & go SLOW. Rippers down no more than an inch or so below the level of the two rear blades. Go very slow because those rippers are being asked to break up some very hard ground.

Also - be prepared to have the tractor & you shaken like never before. That LPGS & rippers will transmit a whole lot of grunts, pulls, rips & tears back thru the 3-point arms to the tractor & you.

Be sure to let us know how the brand new LPGS works on your driveway. Read your new Owners Manual and follow it closely.

You are now on your way to an all new driveway - good luck.

At an extra $600 US that would make up my mind to not go with the 25 series.. It sounds like you have an extablished drive, even though not the best , so mainly you will be maintaining and improving it. At $600 US will buy a lot of fuel and grader blades if all it takes is extra seat time for the 15 series implement to do the job... Did I mention I'm on the cheap side about some things ??

My 5 cents of opinion..

There is no advantage to dragging a light duty implement around that barely scratches the surface. Fixing the roadway is the goal, not burning fuel.

I just bought the EA ED land grader. Based on advice here, I bought the 7' with scarifiers. Should get it by the end of the month.

I’ve seen some land planes with one angled blade and one straight blade.

What would the difference be with this versus one with 2 angled blades?

Angled blades move material from side to side. One straight blade cuts material and moves it along until it is needed at that point of the blade width. I would want a scraper with two blades at opposing angles.

And according to Ted at EA, the greater the angle, the more the cutting action. Since I don't have my EA land leveler yet, I can't confirm this or not. Ted talks about it in his LL videos, available at the EA and on YT.

"Angled blades move material from side to side". I have a Land Pride GS2584 & both blades are angled. I have found that is NOT the case. Material flows up and over - in place. However - it just MIGHT move it a teeny-tiny bit. Maybe an inch or less. If you need to really move material horizontally - get a rear blade.

Yes - angled blades may cut better. But in my case - again, not the case. My driveway is just to dam hard to expect ANY cutting action by the two rear angled blades. I break the surface with the scarifiers and smooth with the two rear blades.

Like this one? Really needs hydraulic top link for adjustment on the fly.
