Too bad you're that misguided and can't see the bigger picture...

I read the link and it looks to me like it is a boycott of a product. The UPC is unique to a product and is carried by many local merchants, so if you don't support the local merchants by buying the products they carry, I assume you will have to order the alternate product via Amazon (or equivalent). Please explain the bigger picture because I don't see it either, nor do I believe that activists for a particular cause see the bigger picture.

If somebody has no interest in knowing where something is made, then this thread/topic/App should be of no interest either.

Seems we are talking personal preferences here; I for one, will not knowingly buy a food product made or processed in China. I will also not buy anything else made in China or any other country for that matter, if I can do without it or get the same thing made in this country. I will make an exception for products from Canada, and admit that some produce almost always comes from Mexico.

Having said that, some companies make their politics and social crusades public; therefore I can show my disagreement by not buying from them if I can help it; Target is an example. I also favor Hobby Lobby and Chick-fil-A, so I have no qualms about buying from them.

The only power we as consumers have is the choice to purchase or not to purchase, and although it is not an obsession with me, I do exercise that choice when I can.

Which China are you buycotting? There is Taiwan and Mainland China. I am not adverse to buying from Taiwan, I'd prefer not to buy from Mainland, but (for example) if they are producing most of our medications, how are you going to avoid it? The alternative is to not get the medication at all, so is that really an option? I suspect there are many items that they produce that we "just can't" get along without and no one else makes an equivalent. I also suspect that Mainland China produces the alternatives as well.

Hopefully, after the pandemic things are going to change (assuming the politicians wake up). Our dependence on China is going to lessen. It's just crazy to have all our medications manufactured over there, out of our control. Eventually I'm buycotting all non-essential products that say "Made In China" but as a first step local Chinese restaurants are blacklisted.

I'd buy from Target if I had a store nearby and they had something I wanted.

I avoid HL for the most part if I can find it elsewhere, which isn't always possible.

I'll never set foot in the Chik place.
