Still looking for a tig...
Came across this :lincoln welder v25 s - Castanet Classifieds
Does anybody know anything about this welder? As far as I know it is a DC only. Will I be able to tig aluminum with it? Is it a disadvantage not to have ac for stick? Is it HF start?
Any advice is appreciated,
Thanks

You can, the aluminum has to be very clean before welding. I use 100% helium gas. This weld was made on DC, with 100% helium.

Thanks Shield Arc,
Is it also possible with argon or is helium a must? If i need to pay $200 extra to get another bottle it might be cheaper to get a ac machine if i ever see one.

I would recommend getting an AC Tig welder. Helium is very expensive, and you have to use more CFH. Because helium is so light.
This aluminum weld was made with my Miller Dynasty 300 on AC.

If you just want it for steel (stick and tig) then it's an excellent machine. I have one :)

If your desire is to weld aluminum, I'd pass.

No high freq start. Needs a foot control or hand control to start the tig arc - or leave it on stick and scratch start the arc.

The price isn't super good - mine was $500 in near new condition with 360 feet of welding lead in near new condition.

I am wanting to lear both, aluminum and steel tig. $500 for a machine in new condition with that much leads is cheap. But then again, stuff is more expensive in Canada :(

Well, to be honest - the price I paid is ridiculously low on both sides of our shared border :D

The leads and all the quick connects pretty much cover the cost. Machine was basically free. ;)

Not related to my original question, but is it possible to stick weld with EVERY tig machine or can only some do it? If not all can do it, how might one find out?
