Buy Hobart 250 tig?

Hi,
I have the opportunity to buy a Hobart 250 ac/dc tig welder for $500 Canadian. It comes with a
Regulator and all the leads, foot pedal and regulator. I think it is a Hf start. I will look at the machine tomorrow. Can you give me some quick advice on what (and how) I should check? If I buy the leads can I stick weld with this unit?

Apparently that Hobart 250 AC/DC/TIG machine was built in the mid 80's, and it is reported that parts are no longer available.
Even if it works now, and you buy it,...... 6 months from now, you might have a $500 copper wound boat anchor.
