Busting beaver dams is typical farm life for us. Here is a video of today's which was pretty dramatic. Glad I caught it on video. Hubby is PSDStu on his Kubota L4060.

If you have ideas for Beaver eradication please give details!

You have the right idea. The beavers must be removed. If not, you will be unclogging pond culverts until H*LL freezes over.

First - check with local Fish & Wildlife agency regarding laws. Maybe you can trap & kill or live trap and relocate. Fish & Wildlife may provide the live trap & relocate service. They will surely have an answer to how to remove them.

Poke a hole in the dam, put a coni-bear trap in front of the hole. Use the beavers feeding sticks to maneuver the beaver to the hole, so they cannot approach it or the trap from the sides.

You will place the sicks in the water/mud dam line. Think of a "M" the V portion will point to the trap and hole.

Sandra, excellent vid . . . time to get yourselves some beaver pelts/hats . . . your hubby is very aggressive on your tractor . . . :drink: I forgot to mention my wife's name is Sandra. :)

It's the wrong time of year for fur... although in Florida they may never be prime. If you use Conibears make sure they are below the water, you wouldn't want to catch a curious pup. Also make sure that it's legal, before posting what you do. I doubt that you need to worry about it though, for the reasons given in my first sentence.

There are a lot of devices to keep the little buggers from plugging up pipes; some more effective than others.

I've been cutting a hole in the dam just before dusk and waiting for them to come up. A .243 with a scope has taken care of most of them. Haven't seen a sign of the dam being rebuilt in the last few months. At one point, they hds raised the water level 2 feet. Hopefully they won't return.

Oooh thanks guys. We are way too close to the Interstate to shoot a gun and since we were wiped out of trees by Hurricane Michael, there is not a bloody thing to slow a bullet down now. We haven't shot a gun since Oct 10th :(

We were hoping the other lake/pond owners up and down stream would dispatch the critters since everyone has the same issue....... but so far they just do the same as we do... clear the debris with gates and other DIY fixes.

No one seems interested in pelts or trapping around here. :( It isn't our bag either but it may come to that.

I think there is another discussion about this on TBN . Seems like one fellow went to a health store and got a gallon of salad oil and mixed it with cayenne pepper. Spray it around their run, and in water.
