It's getting too hectic on the 110 thread.

I wanted you to know if you don't already know, the 110 will roll on a slight incline and gets going pretty good. I experienced this while both bucket and hoe were off the ground and the motor was off. I didn't think this type of transmission would roll that easily. Surprize surprize. I'll use the parking brake from how on.

Another thing that I discovered was a bolt that holds the loader pin in at the top of the loader mast has been tisted off. it's the pin that has the load leveler linkage on it. I was sure suprized to see that.

I have not resolved the loader drift yet. Bushy

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Bushy, I spoke with my local JD/Kubota dealer. He has 2 JD 110's sitting there. Great looking machines. I asked about them while there as I am considering trading down to a removable loader type compact. I wanted to know how they compared to the Kubota L48 (my tractor) since it seems to be about the only size/competition for the JD 110. Since he carries both and had two of each, I figured he would be a great resource. He said the 110 was built around the loader and hoe. He said the JD has the best loader control on the market, the hoe is strong and the hydrostatic transmission is still a ways behind Kubota. Thats it in a nutshell. My L48 , even on a very steep slope 15 to 20 degrees, stays pretty much put, creeping about 2" per minute.

P.S. Tags, I would like to talk to you about your Harley (not Davidson) I'll eMail you. Rat...

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Rat..........
While using the hoe today I missed having the extra reach. The L 48 has a foot more reach. I'm use to a much longer reach. As most of my experience was operating a Ford 4500 with a 15 foot hoe.

But that machine was clumsy in the transport postion. The 110 hoe tucks out of the way very nicely. I noticed today that there is a fair bit of play in the swing function. It lessens if I run the machine using another function while swing such as actuating the bucket. The weigh and momentum of the boom seem to be pulling on the swing cylinders. This is something tha Tags had metioned awhile ago. There's a bounce to it.

It's a good digging machine, I have the 20'' bucket and it is very aggresive. There again I have to compare that to my old 600 series ford that had a sherman power digger on it, I could sink that in the ground effortlessly.

If you are looking for an additional machine I thing you will be happy with the 110. You probably know that the loader does not come off the 110 though the hoe does. Which I had trouble taking mine off and on.

Regarding the rolling tractor, that could be a very dangerous characteristic.

I will report as I use the tractor more. I have 64 hours on it. I feel I paid to much for this tractor. And when I think about that it bothers me. Bushy

Re: Bushy\'s 110

To whom this may concern,
As of lately, I have been operating the 110's backhoe. As I have reported there is some play in the swing function of the hoe.

I believe that I have pinpointed some of the possible problem. It seem as though there is significant amount of play in the pins that connect the swing cylinder ends to the swing frame. This condition seems to be exacerbated by the bucket being able to slightly move on the pin that connects the bucket to the dipperstick. I also suspect that there is some play in the end of the boom cylinder. That movement, can be detected while in the swing function. When these connections move in conjunction with one another they contribute to a more than desirable amount of travel during the swing function. The more the hoe is extented the more sloppy it is. This an un desirable characteristic in the swing function.

There is a bushing in the end of the swing cylinder according to the parts catalog. Could it not be sized right or possible not been install at time of assembly? Or is the pin under sized? The pins are snug in the swing frame. Bushy

Bushy I sure would look into that pretty soon because any extra movement in your pins and bushings makes matters worse in a hurry. I had two bushing missing in my L35 loader arms from person not putting them in after maintenance was done so that may be your case too. Not dealer though. I too have looked at the 110 at dealers buy just can't buy something "new". /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Bushy,
It's funny you mention this because about 2 weeks ago I contacted my dealer about the extra play between the quick coupler and the dipperstick, there is close to half an inch and it does slap more than I think is acceptable. Also on the loader arms,at the top of the cast towers where they connect, there is excessive room for the arms to move back and forth, this movement caused my level indicator to move out of position and get hooked by the linkage for the load leveler, thus twisting it like a pretzel.Today the dealer sent me shims(machine washers) that will fit the hoe pin and the loader pins,I think this will fix most of the slap on the hoe and will fix the loader problem, but I'll let you know how it goes when I put them on.Hope everything else is going well with your machine,it sounds like you're getting alot of work done.

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Although I could never afford to buy one, I have read with great interest what has been posted here and else ware on the John Deere 110 TLB. I do however have two questions I would like to ask.

1 Can you lift and pivot the machine using the hoe.
2 Can you use the turning brakes while using the loader to say clean around a trench?

Thank you for your time

Dennis

P. S. Equipment Training Resources has a very good book on how to operate the TLB. Their website is http://www.equiptrain.com

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Dennis,
Never say never/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.To answer your questions....1-yes you can lift and pivot the machine using the hoe,it has lots of power and is super smooth to operate,2-yes,Deere was at least smart enough to put the brake pedals on the opposite side of the drive pedals,I always use this feature, as it comes in quite handy and allows you to make a very tight turn.If you have any other questions let'em fly, someone will jump in.

Re: Bushy\'s 110

Bushy, Tags: How's the 110 going. I've got 30 hours on mine right now. Have you had your 50 hour service yet? If so any trouble spots? I'm putting the hours on it finally. It sure is a powerwerfull little sucker. I've moved some good size rocks with the loader, well over half the size of the bucket.
The sales men is checking on snowblowers. He had to check it out with JD to see if it would handle it. Looks like a low flow hydraulic would work. They have installed these on skid steers in the pass. There are several manufacturers to pick from. I'm want a 6' blower. I don't have any prices yet.
I haven't had any problems that I can tell so far. Every thing seems to be operating the way it's suppose to. I've haven't taken the hoe off yet, but I think I will just to get familiar in doing in so. I'll get a rotary cutter (MX6 $2,200.00) sometime by mid summer next year. I'm still waiting for those stabilizer guards. That"s it from the Mainiac. Hope all is well with you.
