Have you considered blue loctite?

Not familiar with your model so don't know if you can even pour any around the threads but maybe a possibility.

The new blue stuff is not affected by residual oil.

Stripped threads? I would remove the stump jumper and lookout all the associated parts.

Tapered shaft? Stump jumper may be cracked. If the cotter pin is still in place, the stump jumper is moving. Careful inspection is in order.

I think metalbender is on the right track. Most brush cutter gearboxes have a tapered spline output shaft that the stump jumper attaches to.

At least it will probably be easy to get off. I have been on the other side.

I would strongly suggest that you disassemble and inspect. The cotter pin should have stopped the nut from unscrewing. Something else is going on and I doubt locktite will solve anything. The shaft is tapered (with a key), metalbender is correct. If the stump jumper is cracked, it will keep expanding, loosening up, until something comes loose.
A friend of mine had the shaft end shear off on his bush hog. The entire assembly dropped to the ground and took off. The blades cut through both rear tires on the tractor. It could have gone in any direction for a considerable distance. For the work involved, It's not worth the risk. IMHO.
Tires are expensive, bystanders even more.

You're joking , right? Even welding the nut on won't fix what's going on there. Will be worse than just s##t hitting the fan. Will follow this one for sure.

So not being familiar with Bush Hog name brand tried to look up your model.
No success. I did find a FTH 720 model on Messick's web site.
But found this: https://bushhog.com/discontinued/discontinued/

It's BH link to manuals for discontinued models.
Take a look here. The guys here that know this machine are trying to help and forget my loctite ignorance. That'll learn me to jump in early without getting up to speed first.

Anyways, I'd also consider email BH or calling them for a link to the manual or have them send you a PDF. I'd do more homework up front before putting a wench to it again.
Lots of rotational kinetic energy, don't want to enter into this repair with just yokels like me spouting off loctite.....lol.....
