It probably doesnt make THAT much difference. This isnt a differential in a car. Th gears are so 'loose' in these things, they just need to be in some sort of lube, be it grease, oil, or vaseline if thats all you got.

As long as the lowest gear inthe set dips into the lube to carry it up to any other gears.. and the sump isn't overfull so that the seals blow out.. it should be ok if the fill level is a tad off either way.
