Glenn, thanks for the info. And you're right...I was under the impression that it was not a close race.

I really like the fact that you get to vote for the President directly. Here, we only get to vote for the local federal candidate. Then, the winning Party's leader gets to become the Prime Minister. It's a little too indirect for my liking.

It is sad that one of these guys will be considered the winner.

My choice? If Hillary wasn't running for Senate in NY I'd be tempted to pass on voting this year. But I have to do my little part in attempting to keep the Clinton's out of NY. So I'm thinking about the best write in candidate for president. Still undecided.

Glenn, you're right of course, and I don't remember my history well enough, but I believe there was one (and only one) time when a presidential candidate won via the electoral college, but lost the popular vote. But I've forgotten who it was. Isn't that right?

before a serious, disabling accident resulted in a premature retirement, i, like mot of you, worked hard for a living. i belong to two labor unions. a small pension, social security disability, and prudent savings now pay the bills. to me it's a no-brainer. if the ohio race is close, i'll vote vote democrat. if not i'll vote for ralph nader, who just might be the last honest pol in america!

In last night's second debate, I thought Bush was better on both substance and style. He surprised me.

Glenn, I guess you're right. Personally, I thought Gore did better in the debate (although I still intend to vote for Bush), but my wife disagreed and tells me the "experts" in the news media and their polls indicated that Bush won that one.
