Bush mowing the pasture

Yeah, our grass is probably about the same as yours. Unfortunately, I also have locust trees that produce up
to 9 inch long thorns. I've only had two flats in 5 years on my Grillo 107d, but I am very careful.

Had to buy a $90 tire for the Steiner 420 this year. Shop told me they could put a tube in it but no guarantee as there were too many thorns in the tyre.

You shouldn't cut down live Locust unless you are logging. When a Locust is cut down, roots will send up hundereds of "pups" that grow very fast supported by the established roots. Spray and alow to die before cutting. When pups of some species of Locust are mowed, the stubs are like railroad spikes and don't rot for years.

Just always looking for a better kill method. I have a little over 300 acres, with 2/3 over run by mesquite and huisache. A 90hp track loader with a grubbed or hydrosheers gets the big stuff (up to 14-16?, but is hard on stuff under 1? I walk behind brush trimmer with a metal blade, but that was more work than it was worth-mostly because it was not self propelled. A stihl brush trimmer was a bit better, but not perfect (setting it back up today). Have a bds on order, will see how it does, but suspect it will just be another tool in box not a complete answer.

Have not seen a bds string trimmer (like the dr) that I converted with a beaver blade. It might be yet another option if it exists

Don't have 300 but 5 out of our 8 has huisachse regrowing as it was cleared a year and a half ago. My spring done sprung on this chicken. So the 4 gallon back pack sprayer will soon be for keeping the barn bug and weed free.
Found Ag-Meir out of Belton and Wylie Sprayers for PTO and electric. Looking at a 3ph 50 gallon unit for the spring. Remedy with a surfactant does a good job but walking it all down kicking my back side.

Once all the grubbing is done consider spraying the new growth this spring so the roots will finally die off and decay.

This one is a bit to far for me: 3 Point Hitch Sprayers

But close to your neck of the woods.

But this one is closer for me: Agriculture - Wylie
Looking into this one: 3-point Defender Sprayer - Wylie
Did not see any dealers near you area but then web sites are not always up to date.

All the best, I feel your pain and glad its not a 300 acre pain!lol

I shred the huisache saplings and then spray them with remedy and diesel, for the rest of the spiny shrubs we dig them out with a pick-axe! But I知 planning on buying a Small trencher from China and to dig the granjeros, etc faster!

Have you tried a root plow? Much easier on the back.
Unless you're the one supervising and have younger folks with the pick ax!...ha!:D

I got somethink like ultraseal from the UK "Puncturesafe" which I put in the new 6 ply tires after they got some punctures from thorns, and so far after mowing another acre or so of "bad land" no air loss, stuff seems to work.

What sort of fuel consumption do you have per acre brush mowing? The Goldoni I use for mowing has an "Intermotor" by Lombardini gas engine, and while I didn't accurately measure this time fuel consumption, it was at least 6 liters of gasoline for about 3/4 of an acre, which is a lot with our European gas prices (~ € 1,40 per liter / $6 per gallon, I guess 2 gallons per acre). Or at least, it seems like a high consumption to me.

The other Goldoni, which I leave connected to the power trailer, has a diesel engine. I am thinking about swapping the engines, as I certainly use more fuel mowing, rotary plowing and rotovating than I do transporting stuff in the trailer, and maybe, eventually, I could rig up LPG tanks on the trailer, as that is about half price of gasoline.

Got my 853 (gasser) along w/ the 32 brush mower a couple of days ago and spent 4 hours clearing brush and saplings and have to say I知 very pleased with the performance of this setup. I got the tires loaded which in addition to adding weight makes the tires near indestructible I am told.

Did you get the tires with the foam filling?

About how much gasoline did you use over those 4 hours?
