Bush hogging with the 4320 with eHydro

540. The MX6 is perfect for the 4320, at least in my application.

The MX-6 rocks. 1700 RPMs sounded low - is that the proper engine RPM for 540 PTO? I can't remember what it is on my 4520.

The instrument panel display on the 4320 has 2 PTO symbols. One is between 1700 and 1800 and the other in the 2400 range (don't remember the higher exactly because I've never revved up that high.) I have always stopped on the lower PTO symbol because the tractor just sounds "right" set there.

That lower RPM one is if you have the economy PTO and it is engaged.

What Darin is saying is correct to achieve maximum pto speeds.

On the other hand for most rotary cutting chores and other jobs I seldom will run the tractor at pto speeds for long durations. While you should run at higher speeds intermittently it is not necessary to do this all day long. I do have the economy pto on my 4520 so I can run the engine at 1700 and be close to pto speed but would do the same even if I had the standard pto too. Then again I don't get in a hurry and like to see what I am fixing to run over too.

Your doing a better job than I am explaining it.

I always run the mowers at rated RPM so the grass gets cut up properly.

Just because the engine RPMs are up does not mean the tractor is really working that much harder. I can tell how hard it is working by the fuel gauge.

Is your 4320 n open station? They get pretty loud - you will want hearing protection for sure.

Economy PTO produced a 540 RPM PTO output at a lower engine RPM. There are 2 marks on the tach. My 5255 has it, my 4520 does not. When running lower HP devices (like a PTO powered spray rig), I can run it in economy mode to burn less fuel but still get the proper RPMs to the pump.

I don't think my 4120 has 2 marks. Just the "540" pto mark @ around 2400rpm's. I tend to run it around 2200 while bush hogging.
