Massey Ferguson GC 2410 with loader and backhoe , snow blower and tiller attachments
hello all. I bought a massey ferguson GC 2410 and got the dealer to add a bush hog RTC 48 . I finally got the backhoe off and hooked up the bush hog to the PTO. When I engage the PTO I can see the driveline spinning right into the gear box however the blades wont turn? It did sit for a year but I have greased and oiled where necessary. I am ready to till now that all the snow is melted but not having any luck. Any help would be great. thanks. Jeff

Is there a bolt at the PTO shaft where it connects to the gear box?

It looks like there is a bolt there....I tried to take a pic of where I can see the driveline spinning into......it seems to spin right into the gearbox but still no turning of the blades.I took the cover off to get a better pic... I am now wondering if this is something I can fix or should I be taking it back to the dealer since I have never used it???

The stump jumper could be loose or something is wrong with the gearbox.

I am being told that maybe the slip clutch is seized or not working properly since it has been sitting for so long? I just got the manual for it online and was looking at the slip clutch maintenance for ones that have sat for awhile. I am to loosen the 8 bolts on the clutch and see if that helps? then I am to start tightening them as I try to see if it will let the clutch release? All bolts have to be evenly loosened or tightened and the factory setting is 27mm so I may try that as well. If that doesnt work........back to the dealer I guess?

That is not your problem, if the slip clutch is turning, the gear box should turn, unless the shear bolt has sheared or was never installed.

Can you turn the shaft with the tines on it?

Just looked at your picture, don't see a place for a shear bolt.

as xfaxman said.. a seized slip clutch is NOT your issue.

rotate the pto shaft driveline by hand and observe the input shaft going into the gearbox. if the input shaft goin gintot he gearbox is spinning.. you have an issue, like a stripped output shaft or stump jumper.

if the input shaft is not spinning.. make sur ehte connecting bolt thru the slip clutch and input shaft is instaleld and intact.

thanks for all your input guys. Since I could see the input shaft turning going into the gearbox I figured I would take off the chain casing on the side and have a look at the condition of the chain. After draining the oil and opening it up guess what......the chain broke . @#%R@%#. At least its something easy to fix now rather than having to deal with striiped shaft. Waiting on dealer to fix since he sold it to me this way. Nice eh.

Well the dealer fixed me up with a new connector part for the chain. After some oil draining of the chain case I was able to remove the casing and fix the chain.I replaced the gear oil in the case but can I just grease it or do I need to have it filled with gear oil? Bush hog working great and my field is plowed anyways. Life is good. :)

I don't understand your question. Did you reuse the oil that you drained from the chain case?

Grease what?

There should be a fill plug for the gear oil. Fill it to that level.

Did you download the manual?

Parts cat. you listed is incorrect as it shows gears on LH end of tiller.

Yes i have the manual and I did use new gear oil and filled to proper level but was wondering if I could just grease the heck out of the chain instead of using oil?

yeah.. unsure about what you are asking.

if the chain case needs an oil bath.. by all means.. keep an oil bath... etc..
